Fat vs. Low Fat Foods

I know there is a lot of discussion about fat vs. low fat foods, but what have you found to be most helpful in losing weight? Atkins for example says that "fats" are good for us and that it is the sugars that convert to weight on our bodies... I'm interesting what everyone thinks...
