Sugar versus fat.

For years the experts have blamed fat for our weight gain, and manufacturers have produced low fat versions of everything. They are now saying that it's sugar that's to blame, not fat, so can we now expect the low fat food industry to collapse do you think?

I have only known in the last few months that sugar is actually the baddy and not fat. I think it is going to take a long time for the mindset of people to change their mindset because it's been drummed into us for long that fat is bad and low fat is bad.

Recently I have been advised to avoid some foods that claim low fat ... like a full fat natural yogurt is better for us than muller light (which is the yogurt we were discussing) because their sugar content is higher. Some full fat products have a healthy balance but I've yet to get this far in my thinking but it is on my mind ...

I do not think that we can expect the low-fat industry to collapse. I for one will still eat this way. I have always watched my sugar intake. Regular pop is not good for us because of the sugar. Sugar makes you gain weight, that isn't anything new.

Diet soda or pop, is actually worse for you than the regular soda. Aspertame is nothing more than a poison which Donald Rumsfeld rammed through for approval with the Searle Corporation. Dr. Russel Blaylock wrote a great book about it, and you should check it out.

Soda is just bad news all-around. After I quit drinking it, I really noticed a difference in how I physically felt. If I have a soda now, it makes me feel terrible and my kidneys hurt. I try to stay away from it as much as possible.

My brother is an avid campaigner against aspartame and won't allow his son to drink anything containing it. I admit that I prefer the taste of diet drinks to sugary ones, and I do take Splenda rather than sugar in my tea, but I'm also careful what I allow my kids to eat and drink.
