When you finish your plate and want more

Since I am currently only cooking for one person I usually have food leftover. Sometimes it is really difficult to not be tempted to just finish off what's left of the meal.

What I've been doing now is getting up from the table immediately when I finish my plate and going directly into the bathroom to brush my teeth. That makes me think twice before eating a few more forkfuls of anything while I am cleaning up and putting things away.

That sounds like a great idea. Eating food after brushing teeth tastes horrible, so it would definitely keep me from eating more!

That is a great idea! I should try it. There are three of us here but I don't need to eat more after I finish what is on my plate. My problem is that I eat faster than my hubby. I sit at the table with him until he is done eating. Sometimes I get bored and get more to eat.

That's a really good idea! I'm awful for not wanting to waste food. I've got better now at not cooking too much and try to freeze things down if I do, but used to always make huge portions of everything and it was so tempting to just eat it!

Brushing your teeth is a great idea! I know I can't eat directly after brushing. I think that you really need to deal with the mental process involved as well. Are you grabbing seconds out of boredom or guilt over wasting food? Figure out a way to make less or use up the leftovers.

That's a good idea. I know I never want to eat anything for a long time after I brush my teeth because I just brushed them, and on top of that, food tastes good after I have just brushed my teeth.

I do agree that food taste horrible after I just brushed my teeth. I don't know if this would work for me though. It would be odd getting up and leaving the table if someone was still at the table eating (this is my case). I just need to figure out a way to stop the bad eating habit.
