Stopping the overeating

How do you stop yourself from overeating? It seems to be a vicious cycle at times. I get depressed over stressed and I eat bad food. I try to stop but I just do it. I can be full but stressed out and I eat. What are you doing to stop this?

This is something I struggle with, too. Sometimes I don't stop myself from overeating; I just do it and then feel guilty about it later. Other times I can talk myself out of it by saying, "You're not really hungry; you just feel [insert emotion here]. You need to find something else to do." Then I'll start trying to busy myself with reading, a movie, crochet, or my guitar.

One way I have found to stop myself from overeating is to fix plates in the kitchen and then eat in the dining room. After the plates are made, put the leftovers into containers and then put them in the fridge. That way, it really forces you to think about going back for seconds.

I make set meals that are within a calorie count so that there are no leftovers and I can't keep eating it. I so struggle with not going into the kitchen for snacks though, but I try not to keep my downfall foods in the house as I can't stop thinking about them!

What about making a healthy dip with some raw veg to dip into?

I also stopped buying the things I loved so the temptation wasn't there, some of the kids goodies don't appeal so I know if I eat them a) I won't even enjoy it b) I will regret it!

This month I have just reminded myself how awful I feel after it. It has started to get easier this last week. What about a big glass of water?

I drink a lot of liquids when I want to eat, and eat, and eat. I drink a lot of my favorite comfort tea. It helps, but the urge to eat is still there.

I try to have a glass of water when I'm feeling like I should eat just for the sake of it. I've massively over eaten this last couple of weeks though, it's been comfort eating I think and not easy to stop at all!
