I asked my friend (personal trainer) why we had to drink so much water every day. He told me it helps flush out the toxins and that helps you burn calories. Is this really true or is he just making it up to sound good?

I think it helps to get rid of the toxins more easily from the body. The body does it anyway, but water probably helps make it easier. I don't know if water burns calories but I did hear that ice cold water burns calories.

Yea the more water you drink, the more toxins it'll flush out! Also, water helps your muscles to repair and muscle itself it quite high in water content, which is why as you gain more muscle your body water % tends to go up! The muscle repair element of it is why you tend to gain weight when starting to exercise because your body's holding on to water in your muscles!

This is true! When I used to play football you would be able to feel the water almost sloshing around in your muscles between workouts! That heavy feeling, I can remember it like yesterday!

It does. I tend to drink more water when I am working out and when I am feeling under the weather. Now if I can just control the bloat issue I will be in good shape.

I really need to drink more water. I probably only have half a dozen glass of coffee/tea/water a day. Can't be good for me even without dieting.
