Are you modifying Thanksgiving dinner?
Are you "healthifying" your recipes for Thanksgiving or just axing certain things from the menu? Are you just going to make and eat your normal fare, and try to eat light the rest of the week? I'm unsure as to how I'm going to do it this year.

We'll be cooking the recipes the normal way, as opposed to trying to make them healthier, but we won't be making as many recipes. Where we would normally have stuffing AND mashed potatoes AND potato salad AND macaroni and cheese, for example, this year we're nixing all but the stuffing. Everyone isn't on board (namely, the hubby) but they can either get on board or eat elsewhere as far as I'm concerned!!

I don't know how a nice holiday, where we are encouraged to be thankful for everything we have, has become all about having more. I would like to take Thanksgiving back to the basics. People don't need eight side dishes and three kinds of pie to choose from. It seems disgusting to me to have all that gluttony when there are people going to bed hungry.
I hope I didn't bring you all down. That's my yearly Thanksgiving rant. I apologize to my UK friends that don't celebrate Thanksgiving.

We don't have huge Thanksgiving dinners like that anymore. I know what you're talking about though! We get the turkey, a few sides, and some dessert. Nothing extravagant for us. As I get older, I find that I can't eat that much in one sitting anyways!

We don't have to make our Thanksgiving dinner healthier. We really don't have a ton of side dishes or desserts. We serve turkey, potatoes, stuffing, carrots/onions and celery, macaroni salad, rolls and a jello dish. We do have a couple of pies but I'm all about the turkey! We usually have an apple pie and a coconut cream pie.

I think that I am going to make a bowl of roasted vegetables to bring to dinner. It feels like fall, but I think that it will be healthier than the candied sweet potatoes that my mom always makes.
