Country Gravy
How bad can it really be? I mean I love this stuff, my favorite breakfast is biscuits with gravy and while I do not eat it often, you could not really keep me from it if you tried.

It's a white, sausage gravy that is popular in the southern part of the US. It's NOT a good diet food no matter how much avidian wishes it to be. It's made with sausage grease, milk, butter, and flour. Yummy, but bad!

I never said anything about it being healthy, I just want to know how bad it is. For me I actually started to eat this in the north east states as well as went I moved out to the south west states so it is not just a "down south" kind of thing to eat.

I love country gravy. You had me curious so I did a Google search. The calorie and fat count fluctuates, give or take 100+ calories, depending on the recipe.
I bet there's a way to make them lower in fat. Maybe swap out regular milk and use fat free milk and cut calories by using a whole grain toast or a corn muffin rather than a biscuit. Maybe just a smaller portion with a bigger side dish of fruit or yogurt?

Everything in moderation is the key to a healthy life. There should always be a way to make a healthier version of a certain recipe. Whether it's as tasty, is another matter.

I think the packets of country gravy that you mix with water wind up being about 100 calories per serving, but I'm not sure of any of the other stats. It's probably not something you'd want to eat more than one serving of at a time, but it's not so horrible that you can't work it in as long as you cut calories elsewhere.
