Family of 3!

Hi, I am new to the forum so not sure if I am posting in the correct place or if this has been asked before!

Our problem is, my husband is over weight and is planning to change his way of eating. Trouble is I am only 8st 9 and not overweight at all and our son who is 13 is also just right for his age! How do I make family meals for all of us which are healthy but myself and my son do not need to be eating diet food?? I want to help hubby but he says to just cook for us 2 and he will see to his own meal after working all day, then possibly at either circuit training, running or swimming!!!

Can you tell me what are big "no no" for someone on a diet, then maybe I could avoid this. I have never been on a diet so its all new to me!

Hope you don't mind me asking!

Thanks in advance!

IMHO letting him sort his own dinner is a 'no no'. From personal experience it's too easy not to stick to eating right and cheating when eating separately.

Normally high carb foods are things to steer clear of. Pasta, bread, cheese and fried potatoes (chips or crisps etc).

Have you looked into Slimming World Extra Easy plan? It's not a hash diet and is very easy to stick too. You don't shed lots of weight overnight, it's a gradual thing. It's also designed for those wanting to maintain a healthy weight by adjusting portions, so great for the whole family.

Has he always been overweight? If everyone eats the same family meal maybe he is snacking at work? Does he eat at work or take a packed lunch? Could be that the problem isn't eating at home
