What do you think of the Paleo Diet?

What do you think of the Paleo Diet? I have been reading about it for quite some time now and I like the concept a lot. Eat only what we were designed to eat, like our early ancestors did. So, that means no carbs, breads, crackers, cookies, or even grains. You only get to eat proteins and fruits and vegetables. What do you think? How long would you last?!

I think that Paleo has been a victim of it's own success, there are a lot of haters out there now. And 'eating like our ancestors' has become a bit of a dogma that is harming the movement to some extent.

BUT,

Eating vegetables, meat, fish, eggs, some fruit, a few nuts and seeds, non-processed foods, a little dairy if you tolerate it? I am amazed how many people want to criticise it.

But, you can eat that way 95% of the time, and still have the odd 'modern' treat. 100% compliance is hard in this modern world, and to get the bulk of the benefits, eating that way for the majority of the time is going to be fine.

It is just eating fresh unprocessed food, nothing more. Grains and legumes are likely to be problematic for more people than we realise, so are worth skipping, but you can always have them on occasions and note how you feel?

That is my take on it, I eat that way most of the time, with the addition of some white rice and potatoes, sweet potatoes to fuel my training. I still have a few treats a week and I'm pretty lean.
