Christmas Ham?!

So what is the alternative this year for Christmas dinner folks? I really like a Honey Baked Ham but I don't want to eat too much! How can I have a holiday without a ham?

We just do a regular ham (not honey ham). I'm pretty sure that ham is not unhealthy. You can still bake your honey ham and just not "pig out" on it. Everything in moderation - that is the key to dieting.

I agree with aboutme--ham is fine without all the fancy stuff. I do mine in unsweetened, non-concentrated apple juice and use oranges and cloves to add flavor and sweetness. The other trick is to go with healthier foods for a Christmas dinner. I've found that roasted asparagus goes very well with ham.

Ham is pretty low in calories if you trim off the excess fat around the edges. Turkey ham is also pretty good and sometimes you can't even tell the difference in the taste at all.

We usually don't do ham for Christmas. We do a roast beef or turkey and do a ham at Easter. We have a few in the family that don't like ham. They say it is too salty.

We always do ham at Christmas time, but believe it or not, it's actually one of the healthier options on the table. I'm not sure about the honey baked ones, but just a regular spiral ham from the store is fairly lean and low in calories. Yum!

I guess I can do that as long as I don't overeat. I don't think I've ever heard of a "turkey ham". I'm sure we don't want turkey again after Thanksgiving. I mean it was awesome but I don't want it again.
