As you know i did injured my ankle 6 weeks ago ( i could not do any run training for those 6 weeks ) but i went ahead and i accomplish my first half marathon yesterday.
its a little bitter sweet moment for me as i am happy i still accomplish and finish it
.
However when i started my training back in November my plan was to finish in 2:35 minutes.
Yesterday I was doing "well" until mile 6...i was in the runner pacing group to finish by 2:15 to 2:30 time. ( the race organization was very well done they have professional trainer that run ( while holding a sign and basically if you follow them you finish on the timing the sign have ...so I was between 2 groups the one for 2:15 minutes and 2 hours and 35 minutes.
Then between the miles 6 to about miles 9 my ankle started to hurt and i had to put all my body weight on my right leg so i will avoid putting weight on my injured one and slowly I saw myself running slower and slower
.
Arriving to Mile 10 i could not run anymore as i develop a cramp on my right hip ( again because all my weight and posture was on that side ) and could not all put any weight on my other ankle . So I end up walking my last 3.1 miles finish my race a 2hours and 58 minutes .
Out of 1989 women participating in place 853 so not to bad and for my age group 35 to 39 ( i am 39 ) out of 790 women i place 158 so
Anyway I am register for next year in April just before my 40 birthday and my goal will be to finish in 2:30 this time.
Overall the race was fantastic ...people had a great spirit ...some women were running for a leukemia foundation and were part of team in training so they had coach running with them and one of them for the last 2 miles so I could barely walk and came to me and help me walk the finish line . i thought it was a very kind gesture
