Clean Eating - The Best Healthy Oils & Worst

Picking the right oils make all the difference to your health
& your goals

Coconut Oil
Coconut is a superfood. This saturated far was once unfairly demonized. Studies were carried out on refined and hydrogenated coconut oil that contained trans fats. Make sure you pick good quality unrefined, organic coconut oil.

Coconut oil is resistant to oxidation at high heats; making it the perfect oil for high heat cooking and frying.

Coconut oil mostly consists of Medium Chain Triglycerides which the body prefers to use as energy and not store as body fat.

12-carbon Lauric Acid the fatty acid found in coconut oil is broken down into a compound called monolaurin in the body, known to kill harmful bacteria, fungi and viruses in the body.

TIP: Many mix coconut oil with butter 50/50 based on various reasons from taste, what they are cooking and cost (half the amount good for us is better than none).

Olive Oil
Firstly don’t ruin this oil by cooking with it at high heats, this will lose the health benefits.

Secondly always pick up unrefined extra virgin olive oil when possible.

TIP: Good for salad dressings and dips
TIP: If using to cook with use at low heat

BUTTER
Pick grass-fed butter every time. This is a wonderful fat which stands up to heat is a full fat diary which tastes great and may even help combat obesity.

Avoid margarine and other substitutes for butter.

SESAME OIL
Sesame oil should be used moderately but lets face it it ... it adds great flavour, is high in Omega-6 fats and contains phosphatidylcholine, an important nutrient for the brain.

AVOCADO OIL
Avocado oil is an amazing addition to your pantry used for cold dishes and dressings but it has high smoke point, so great for cooking. Down side is the cost, it can be a little expensive.

AVOID
Most know on bottles ‘sunflower oil’ & ‘vegetable oil’
Soybean oil
Canola coil
Corn oil
Cottonseed oil
Rice bran oil
Rapeseed oil

Oils aren't everything though, I've found that even by eating raw, the essential plant oils have some bearing on how your body metabolizes. I only eat raw and with the omission of fried foods, I had ulcerated issues. So what do I do?

Sorry I'm not sure I understand ... you get stomach ulcers and even steamed food can cause this?

Raw vegetables to my knowledge are not a great option for someone who suffers stomach ulcers.
