huntress's food and exercise diary

I started Paleo March 2012 at a weight of 9st 9lbs.
I didn't start it for weight loss but to eat healthier.
I was a food addict. Especially sweet things.
Within 6 months I reached 8st 7lbs and have maintained under 9 stone since.

I wasn't very well from Oct 14 - Apr 15 so the 'diet' went out the window.
I am going to be back on it from Monday but I may throw in some non compliance foods.

I started by reading marksdailyapple and printed off his shopping list.

Oats aren't Paleo but I have them a couple mornings a week. Usually after being on the treadmill.I made these for an afternoon treat today.

I used...

200g Perkier Berry Fruit Gluten Free Porridge Oats
100g Butter
100g Honey
2 tsp Cinnamon

Melt butter and honey in a pan bring to boil.
Add the dry ingredients until all combined.
Press into a small baking pan.

Oven 175 for 25 mins.

So how's the Paleo going? I've tried two "Whole 30" rounds. Second time I made it through 2 weeks, first time I only made it through one. It's not easy to eat clean, and so far I've never felt the big "rush" of feeling better, etc. while doing it. Anybody else had experience with the whole 30?

The first month I started Paleo I done the Whole30.
The first couple of days were hard but once you have a plan in place it is easy.
I did feel better cutting out all the 'bad' foods. Not so tired or sluggish.

I guess my biggest issue is I'm not much of a planner. And yet I know the adage "a failure to plan is a plan that fails." My day to day life varies so much with my career and my husband's. But I need to be better. Are you watching calories, or do you just stick to the Paleo guidelines?

I stick about 80% of the time to Paleo guidelines.

Paleo is easy to follow that doesn't take any planning really. It's if you do the Whole30 for a month is where the planning comes into it.
