Wholemeal vs White Bread

When eating bread it's not just about the calories. The key is to always look at the additional nutritional values.

Lets compare Tesco medium white and wholemeal bread:

White
Calories - 95.68
Carbs - 18.24g
Fibre - 0.92g
Protein - 3.24g

Wholemeal
Calories - 93.52
Carbs - 14.68g
Fibre - 2.64g
Protein - 4.76g

Less carbs
More fibre
More protein


Wholemeal offers essential nutrients because it is less refined. This means it still contains the
nutrient-rich bran and germ, both of which are removed when making white flour.

Does this mean you should feel guilty for eating white bread, never eat it again? HELL NO... although I pick whole breads, pastas and rices most of the time I definitely have a weakness for white bread with a generous amount of salted butter, croissants and fresh crusty bread and I'll never give them up. thanks for this info. just found out i am boarderline diabetic seeing the nurse in 2 weeks time to find out more info

Didnt think about bread so will be changing to wholemeal

I used to get symptoms but since eating cleaner or better choices even the small things I don't get them any more. Could be coincidence but food choices have definitely changed me and I didn't realise how much until I started going off the wagon.
