How do I work out how many calories I should be consuming to lose weight? I have the my fitness pal app but haven't started using it yet. Seems like such an effort to record everything.

I used to use MFP and it does recommend your calories according to your current weight and how much you want to lose each week. It does work but you're right it does start to become a pain logging everything and then you let it slip and before you know it you've stopped altogether. Have you considered Slimmingworld?

I use lighterlife fast products as a way of keeping track of my calories, worth a try?

I also use the fitness pal app and I feel it's not giving me the right amount of calories I should be consuming.

Myfitnesspal is definitely a good tool to use, especially for the accuracy of how many calories you need and the range of food it has stored on its system. It really doesn't take long to record what you eat - literally scanning the product you're about to eat with your phone.

I reckon you'll benefit from its accuracy - beats guestimating for sure.

Weight loss is basically a game of calories in vs calories out - eat in a deficit of 250-500 calories per day for healthy weight loss, however this is all explained on the app.

You got this.

Usually, in such applications, you specify your height, weight, gender, and the required number of calories the application calculates itself. There are such calculators online, and there is a formula with which you can calculate yourself

If you consume 500 calories fewer than what your body uses to maintain weight daily, you lose 1 pound in a week. You can also increase the number of calories your body uses with more physical activity to create this caloric deficitand.

The diet of 1200 calories is intended for females. The calorie requirements of men’s bodies are higher. In order to lose weight, a typical lady can consume between 1200 and 1500 calories each day. For weight loss, a typical man's physique needs between 1500 and 1800 calories per day.
