To count or not to count

I lost a lot of weight last year calorie counting, but after I started overeating it became more of a negative thing, it was useful to know how much I was eating, but seeing my calorie diary read 3500Kcal, 2800kcal, 3200kcal, etc every day for months was very disheartening and eventually I stopped. Now my calories are more in control, I'm not properly counting them but since I did it for so long I know how many calories are in most things I eat anyway.
So I thought since I'm doing better it might be a god idea to properly count the calories again, because even if I'm only 100kcal off on my guesses that adds up, but I'm worried about getting into the wrong mindset again. Any advice?

Calorie count has helped me a lot in my weight loss journey. I have lost almost 14 kgs in less than 3 months just by counting my calorie intake. Initially, I found it a little difficult, but later it became a habit, In fact a healthy habit

I have always heard that calorie counting was the best method. My last trainer said that losing weight is 10% workouts and 90% dieting.

I just hope I can get into the habit of keeping track

I would advise that you go down the route of calorie counting, not to include the green vegetables/ low complex fruits in the count - I find if you can bulk on those items then you feel more satisfied since you have more calories remaining for other foods.

It’s not just about the calorie counting it’s about the measurements also. For example a tbsp of peanut butter most people would count a heaped spoon when it should be a level spoon so actually you are having double, very well known mistake.

Calorie counting is helpful if you have time to meal plan your days in advance also.

You have to be in the right mindset to begin with and in theory seeing your calories high should help you reduce your calories if they aren’t maybe you should start gradually reducing certain things like fizzy drinks even if they are diet for example.

Calorie counting helped me in the beginning, and now I know how much my body needs. I know how much protein, fat, and carbohydrates I need. I can afford sugar, but very rarely. After I started eating right, I don't want to eat anything unhealthy.
