How many calories do you aim to stick to?

I know everyone is individual but was interested in your calorie allowance and how successful you have been at sticking to it, or losing weight with it?

Thus far, I've been very successful, but I'm having a little trouble at the moment. My calorie allowance is 1800 per day, though generally I eat a little below that (when I'm being good!).

Last year I did around 1200 cals a day. It was hard but I was strict and I did lose a lot of weight, but looking back I wasn't eating enough calories at all, and I was exercising and breast feeding on top of that.

Towards the end of the year when I was finally getting back on track, I switched to around 1800 cal a day and I felt much better on that and still lost weight although not as quickly

I have not really paid any attention to it in the last year or so but now that I am starting back up again I am right at 1500. This is the first week of an eight week challenge that I am doing so I am going to gauge the body reaction to it after the first month is over to see if I want to do the same for the second month or not. The last time I went this low it was a very hard struggle keeping up with my normal life, exercise and low calorie days.

To lose a pound a week, I need to keep it around 1700-1800 calories a day, but I have a lot of trouble sticking with that. I've found that I would really prefer to eat over 2,000 a day and exercise to make up the difference, so I have to be really careful that I don't eat mindlessly.

That is always tricky MandaBear. I have done that a few times and even with a lower daily limit it is hard. I have done pretty good this week but last night was cutting it a little close. Have you tried to change out the foods you normally eat with something that might be better (and more fulfilling)?

I try to keep it between 1,200 and 1,800 depending on what I am doing that day. If it's a low activity day, I try not to eat as much. I am not as strict on myself as I should be, though, and find myself going over several times a week. It may be time to start writing it all down in a notebook again and getting one of the apps available.

I am not very good at keeping track of my calories, but I try not to go over about 1,900 per day. It think I have been successful with it because I am seeing results.
