Calories from Eating Out

Not only is eating out hard on a diet, but unless you eat at a chain restaurant, it's hard to accurately count calories. I went to a local place yesterday and approximating the calories in my lunch was not easy!

Some restaurants nutritional information on their websites.

To be honest when I go out I try and just have a sensible but enjoyable meal put it behind me and be in extra good mode the net day.

I used to try and have something like baked potato with tuna or beans to try to keep the calories down. A lot of restaurant will have their nutrition information on their website

I would suggest to not to try counting calories at restaurants and order dishes like fish that you know are low in calories and make sure you tell them not to cook it in butter and go for the baked over fried. You can tell a waiter how you want something cooked and what to leave out - I do it all the time.

You could not count your calorie in every meal that is so stupid I think just buy a good and fresh meal and you don`t have trouble....

I agree. If I have to go to a restaurant, then I am a little demanding (in a nice way). They can special cook you things, as long as you don't go overboard with your demands. I try and get something that is cooked pretty much the way I would want it, then make small requests if I have to. It can be hard to just approximate the calories, but sometimes we just have to guess.

Personally, when I go to restaurants I am not as strict as usual. I typically allow for some "cheats" here and there and use them up when I am out to eat. I still try to make good choices, of course, but since I won't be calorie counting for every meal forever, I think it's good practice to skip the count occasionally. I also find that I tend to compensate for not counting and it results in a lighter meal than if I would have counted.
