Good luck for Japan! Bet you can't wait - whatever you eat on the flight you'll be stepping on and off the plane lighter than you would have been pre-slimming world. So smile and enjoy!

Have an amazing time in Japan! I think you will struggle to take food through security but could buy in the airport. And as people have said, you will have to get rid of it before landing.

Aeroplane meals are generally quite high calorie but the reason for this is your tastebuds are affected by the altitude. I have flown long haul 4 times over the past 6 months and if I were you I would eat what are you offered as you need to just allow yourself to be as comfortable as possible. You can take snacks but at some point you will want some warm food and you need to ear regularly to try and help your body adjust to the time zones.

In Japan you should be able to eat well as they don't use much fat in their cooking

Thanks everyone, very kind of you all

Milly, I think my flight does offer a low calorie option, but I wouldn't have a clue how many syns it'd be. If I am really hungry, I'll order what seems the healthiest at the time, but I don't want to eat for the sake of it and not know how off plan I am.

Very true PurpleJ, it's things like that which I need to remember after the splashing out days I've had!

Thanks for the advice hevJ. I'm not a sandwich lover, so was thinking of buying some sushi from the airport? Like you say, from the little reading I've done I think I can take it on the plane but maybe not into the country, which isn't a problem. I never knew that about taste buds though, how interesting! I will bear eating the things on offer in mind, I'll just do my best to get on the plane with a stomach full of the right foods. My sleeping pattern is terrible anyway, so my eating times vary too ^^;

There's definitely plenty of healthy options in Japan, but plenty of bad ones too. I want a healthy mix where I don't feel like I'm missing out, as I feel with all the sauces and the sugars in sushi rice, it's still going to be hard to have exciting low syn meals.

2/3 days to go!

Anyway, I stuck to plan today, just eating 5 syns. I'm thinking of weighing myself Monday, but part of me doesn't want to weigh myself until I've had more time to shift the few pounds I've put on :P

How's everyone's week going?

I saw a gain when I ate the buffet.. and haven't lost it!! Despite being on plan... home scales suck I know. lol Hoping to see a loss before Tuesday, but I've been doing a lot of exercise. Finished week 1 of couch to 5k plan so am pleased with that, as it felt easier yesterday. Also got my bike out - am watching a tidier bike on ebay at the moment. Also treated myself to new trainers today as mine were only really suitable for classes / indoor use. Got some lovely Nike runners / suitable for cycling too.

When was the buffet PurpleJ? Don't worry too much, like you say they're home scales, and also, I've weighed myself on Sundays in the past and been disappointed with the result as it was a tiny loss or maintain. Then when I weighed just 2 days later, it was much better. This has happened a couple of times, and my home scales at the time weren't much different from the SW scales.

Well done on doing the Couch to 5K! Would recommend this programme to anyone, thanks to this I can now run for 30 minutes non stop And I really was the definition of couch potato :P I started it without having done any cardio before on SW, so didn't even have that going for me. My first run was awful, I couldn't finish the 60 second runs and the walks were a godsend, but then I just paced myself better from the second run and apart from pushing myself too hard in week 9 and hurting myself, it's been good since!

I've just done some body measurements, and it's so nice looking at the total inches lost! I measure my waist, hips, chest, both thighs and both arms, and I've lost around 48 inches in total since starting last September

That is truly amazing the inches lost Matt!! I love seeing them change as it's what people see when they look at us, and the size of clothes too I did my measurements last week and was pleased to see 3.5 inches gone off my hips and 2.5 off my waist.

The buffet was on Wednesday so not too long ago, and my home scales never show as much as the SW ones do. I can't remember what they showed last Tuesday. But whatever it is, it is. I am trying to just have faith at the moment my body doesn't seem capable of the big losses it's shown before, so I'll just have to accept it's having a bit of a slow month. But I'm down overall and that is what matters.

I've done Couch to 5k before and run 2 race for life 5k races. It worked both times. I was pleased this time that I was able to run the 60 seconds, it wasn't easy but it felt easy yesterday so I ended the final run on 90 seconds just to prove to myself I could do it. So I'm looking forward to week 2 starting tomorrow. I have made a plan with my D1 (eldest daughter who is 16) to do a race for life this summer - she's never done a running event but I think she'd enjoy the atmosphere and being timed. We are going to run it separately but be together at the start and finish. She is running with me in the gym, and was pleased to hit 20 mins straight running yesterday so she is doing her own thing in hitting targets.

Well done on the inches and lbs lost PurpleJ

And good for you for doing race for life, never done anything like that myself!

Thanks! I'll definitely be on at some point, but I'm not sure when. I've weighed myself at my grandads tonight, and surprisingly I'm down a pound and a half. Probably shouldn't have had a chocolate binge though!

Part of me wants to maintain, but the other part of me wants to lose more. But I don't want food to dictate what I do in Japan, and worry of going out to do things. I never eat crap after weighing, but I think because I'm in that "as long as I maintain" mindset right now, I'm less strict on myself. So if I feel I'm going too crazy, I'll cut it back and maybe come on here to draw a line. Or I may just come on out of habit, aha. I just want to ease back on the weight loss a little.

6lbs for me this week!! Whoop!!! Unfortunately not slimmer of the week as I didn't lose last week so someone with a 3lb loss won that. Never mind! I will have to keep it up though as it feels good. Set a 2lb target for next week.
