Anyone tried Slimming World?

Out of all my friends and colleagues that have ever been on a diet, Slimming World seems to be the one that comes up the most. I see weight watchers foods when I'm out shopping but don't think I remember any slimming world food

Do you have to buy Slimming World food from them direct? Is it better than weight watchers?

I'm not on it now, but have done it in the past and loved it! It's different from ww in that they don't do ready meals and snacks, apart from some bars that they do! The emphasis is more on teaching you to eat the right things to set you up for life. From what I've seen of ww it seems to be more about losing weight as fast as you can!

When I did sw I got te books off a friend, but if you buy the magazine it has loads of recipes and a sample week meal plan so you can give it a go!

Do you lose weight quicker on the WW plan compared to Slimming World? The problem I have with WW is weighing the food and working out the points.

I've never really got Weight Watchers. I went through a phase of eating WW food (just because it's calorie controlled) but never understood the pro-points.

I found this weight watchers calculator: http://www.calculator.net/weight-wat...alculator.html
It's not official one just not sure if it's accurate but might help someone

I think I've decided today that I'm going to try slimming world again. I lost 8lbs in 4 months which was a slow weight loss for me - I lost motivation and then stopped going. It states that you can eat as much pasta, potato and rice as you want but I can't see that anyone can lose weight if they have unlimited amount of those foods. My other problem is banana's - I eat about 3 or 4 a day ... I just love them but for an average banana it is around 110 calories. I was told you can eat as many as you want - I'll give slimming world another shot but I think I'll cut back on potato's and fruit -- I was nibbling all day on those foods.....

Funny you should say that about bananas. I always see that advert on various websites that says 'Foods you shouldn't eat when on a diet' with a picture of a banana... never clicked on it but now you've said that about them being 110 calories each then I'm guessing that's why... guessing they also have a fair few carbs too which makes them worse.

I always liked slimming world because there is some really nice recipes out there that convert normal food into syn free or low syn meals. It's also much easier to count syns (especially if you have access to the official search) or save some up and be a bit naughty at the weekend

I'm just calorie counting at the moment, but think if I wasn't doing that I would do slimming world.

No more Banana's for me then. Well, maybe just one

Seriously though - I'm going to have just the one banana a day. I've started eating more Apples now
