Crazy cravings anyone...?? First post, bit of a long one!

Hello all, I'm new to forums but not to Slimming world. Been struggling a lot lately (don't attend group but have recently joined online) and thought some public postings might boost my moral. So here goes...

So I've done Slimming World on and off for more than a decade (I'm 34) and I believe it is truly the best 'diet' (do not like that word) in the world if you like to eat, which I really, really do! Hadn't committed for a long time and over the last 5-6 years the weight has piled on. After battling with the old conflicting mindsets of 'gosh damn I sooo want to be slim' to 'oh sod it I'm fine how I am' and trying all sorts of stupid, expensive and restrictive quick fixes last September I saw sense and returned to SW, albeit going solo, and lost a lovely 1.5stone and thought brilliant I've cracked it but then Christmas came and it all good intentions went out the window! It's now April and I've not managed to get back on plan and pretty much every pound lost has found its way home!

I joined online a couple of weeks ago as I can't quite face the group nor find the time to fit it in, but still couldn't get myself sorted out and just ignored the website for weeks, to the point where SW emailed me personally to see if I was ok!! Felt so ashamed but thought no, I know this plan and I know it can work so got all geared up to start strong this week and forevermore which was all going grand until today when I had the most overwhelming urge to eat some rubbish (sweets and chocolate being my preferred poisen) and while I recognised the urge and had every opportunity to ignore it I felt completely powerless and so, in what felt like an outer body experience, I found myself in the newsagents purchasing not 1 but 3 chocolate bars!! I snuck back into my office and almost ate the lot in one sitting! This happens to me a lot and I just do not know how to stop it?! I'm a pretty all or nothing person which doesn't help as I tend to keep my syns to an absolute minimum when on plan during the week (as I save them up for weekend wine) so just telling myself I'll have a low syn treat to cure my craving doesn't really work for me, if I'm going to cheat I cheat big!
Anyway sorry for going on, just wanted to share and see if anyone else shares my problem??
Back on plan now and dragging myself (kicking and screaming) off to the gym now 😥

Hope to hear from some of you...promise I won't go on like this all the time 😋

Firstly, welcome!
I think we all have that moment at some stage. I know I do!

What about changing your drink at the weekend? I've found that wine is horrible for weight loss. I can be 100% on plan and within syns even with a bottle of wine and I'll either maintain or lose very little. Whereas if I change my drink to a spirit and diet mixer (Malibu or southern comfort are my go-to spirits) I'm more likely to lose more.
Depending on what wine you drink (red, white, rose) and what percentage the wine is, the syns will be around 32 for the bottle. That leaves you with an average of 10 each day for other things. A 39g Mars bar is 9 syns. Chocolate craving satisfied or an alternative chocolate bar if you don't like Mars!
As long as you have 5 everyday it should help stop the cravings ideally. Or at least curb them.

Sometimes though we need that 'blow out' day/meal where we have something and get back on it.
I've always been a firm believer of if you crave something, you should have it rather than try to substitute it with something else because that rarely works and leads to a big binge!

Thank you for your reply Sarahc. Sometimes I do vodka and soda as I think you're right, wine is horrible for weight loss, but so great for everything else lol! Will try more of that this weekend, although got donner with friends Saturday so goodness knows how I'll get on this week!! Well only my first week back on plan and I didn't let my crazy cravings totally ruin today so guess I should be grateful for that! Just tucking into my free chicken salad after a brutal hour in the gym😧, living the dream!! Csn you recommend any other threads worth checking out? Not reall sure how these things work but would be great to chat with other like minded people from the world of slimming...world 😊

There are tons of threads in the SW of the website, and plenty of people who have/are following SW.
And whatever support you need, we're here

Welcome Rach. I totally understand how cravings can be all consuming and lead to a bit of a binge. Sometimes you've just got to get it out of your system but it's such a vicious circle because then you feel so guilty. I think that depriving yourself daily in order to save up syns is probably detrimental. In my experience, having a treat every day makes the cravings easier to handle. Like Sarah said, maybe it's time to move to a better alcoholic drink. But anyway, have a look through the diet journals. Most people that post their diaries are on SW, apart from me! But my old entries are SW so might be helpful. We're all here for support and best of luck

Thanks all. Think I'm going to have to call a truce with myself and start again after easter, far too much temptation around at this time of year. Really hoping to get my head screwed back on after the break! I will be back....

My favourite evening treat is fat free yogurt mixed with a chocolate highlight sachet , then add raspberries and or blueberries, it gives me that evening chocolate hit that I crave
