Hi I have joined now but I struggle to like keep it up as I find every single food I like is syn loaded ? Plus I eat a lot of lunchtime foods like quick grab so it's hard ! Plus I'm wondering does anyone ever just go for a meal and have the syn foods as I surely can't go the rest of my life on slimming world without having like a lush burger or something lol so wondering without trying to sound negative how people get around it ? Do they save their syns in the week ? Then splurge ?

Hope these questions might help if any one can add to them ! But main thing is honesty on this site as I find rolls are so helpful x

Hi Cat,

Welcome to Slimming World & Social Slimming.

First of all, you are most definitely not alone in the way you feel. We all have pleasures that we don't want to be without but it does become a question of balance. Your daily allowance of syns is 5-15 but Slimming World do not recommend saving and then splurging as it can become dangerous. Also it is more than likely to hinder your weight loss as the body becomes accustomed to having 1 big fix every now and again and will hang onto it more.

It depends entirely on what you believe your syns go on? Going out is more difficult than staying in as you do have less control but you will find a lot of restaurants can help with individual requests. I went for dinner on Friday night and my main course was supposed to be pan fried sea bass but I requested they grill it instead as I have a minor allergy to oil. They were more than happy to help me out and as a result there were minimal syns in the meal.

Of course you aren't expected to go without treats your whole life but its a case of working out what your treats are and seeing if there are ways to drop the syn levels down. Make Slimming World work in compromise with your normal life as that's the way it is supposed to work.

Feel free to ask any more questions as we all have concerns and worries about losing weight.

:-)

Hope you're feeling better Rachel!
And I know it can be disheartening, I'm sure we've all been there many times, I know I have!

Is there a particular reason you use less than 10 syns a day? I'm just curious, and wondering if maybe using a couple more would help you continue your losses?
I realise that every time I say something like it sounds completely backwards and upside down, but it works

Is there anything you can do to change things up a bit so you aren't feeling like you're on a diet rather than just healthy eating?

Hi Sarah,

I'm feeling a little better thanks. Still in a bit of pain but surviving.

Not really, its just most of my syn use is alcohol (I know how awful that sounds) and I figured by minimalizing syns will encourage me to drink less.

I am going to persevere with this week and see how it goes and then try and change things up. I don't feel like I'm on a died most of the time to be honest but the numbers just aren't shifting so there is clearly something I am not doing right. I know Slimming World isn't about portion size but maybe that is something I need to look at more.

Thanks for the assist, will see how Monday goes!

Me again!

I am going to lay out my day to day activities of Slimming World as I would welcome suggestions as to where I am going wrong:

- Breakfast - I tend to have my healthy A and B here but I have changed it up - meals I have had are: 2 slice of w/m bread with low fat spread and marmite, 2 wheatabix with my milk allowance, a smoothy made with half milk allowance, natural yoghurt and raspberries or occasionally scrambled eggs with mushrooms. My issue in the morning is straying from what I am used to requires focus (which I don't have that early) so I just stick to the same things (easy and quick.

- Lunch - Same every day at work, 1 flask of home made soup, 2 beetroot, 5/6 cherry tomatoes, 1 mug shot, 1 Satsuma, 4 pineapple segments, 2/3 sliced carrots, half a pepper and a muller light - I thought by going Majorly speed it would push my weight loss leaps and bounds but really isn't helping - I drink 3/4 75cl bottles of water as well as several LARGE cups of peppermint tea.

- Dinner - Because pasta is a dangerous food group for me I weigh that but then have 3 or 4 veggies with it. My portion sizes are normally a dinner plate full but not massively piled.

My issue is that if I plan for different meals, every meal, every day it costs a FORTUNE in shopping bill. So I get stuck with what's cheap and what I know will last.

Ok, so that's my broken method. Any advice?

:-)

Confidence through the floor!

Well its happened, my confidence has finally hit the floor. Just sent the below to my consultant. If you guys have any further advice i'd greatly appreciate it:

Hi Paul, hope this finds you well. I just wanted to contact you as I feel like I have hit a wall. When I came to Slimming World last time everything felt so easy and it was loss after loss. This time it seems to be loss followed almost immediately by a gain and I really don't know what else to do. I put at least 3 or 4 veg in with every meal, I am weighing my pasta (just because its kind of a danger food for me). I am having my healthy extras every day (trying to vary it but its not easy) and on average I don't even hit 10 syns a day. Plus the Body Magic side of things I thought the weight would be falling off but its like it just doesn't want to shift. I keep thinking maybe I should shrink my portions down (but I know thats not what slimming world is about). I have done myself a plan for this week, planning every meal and changing things up and I really hope it will have some affect because at this point I am fighting to actually be motivated to come to weigh in (its not fun when all you see are - and then +). I was also in a bike accident this week so while i did quite a lot of walking my body megic will be no where near its normal level and I just feel like I'm not moving from where I started. Sorry for such a long rant but I just don't know what else I can do. Any advice or help you can offer would be great. Thanks. Rachel
