Slimming World - Struggling first week

Hi, so I joined swimming world on Friday but on Saturday night, I went out and drank too much and went over my daily syn limit of 15 by a lot. As a result, I've had to have no syns for four days to make up the amount I went over. But now I'm really scared in case I've put on weight or stayed the same, especially since i've been reading all of these stories of people losing 1lb-8lb in their first week!

Friday:
Breakfast - 250ml semi skimmed milk and porridge with blueberries and raspberries
Snack: Apple and raisins (6 sysns)
Lunch: Smoked salmon, lettuce, cucumber, tomato, sweetcorn salad (All free foods)
Snack: Grapes and prawn cocktails crisps (6.5 syns)
Dinner: Salmon (fry light) and broccoli and rice

So on Friday I had a total of 12 and a half syns.

Saturday:
Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs with ham and mozzarella cheese on a slice of wholemeal bread
Snack: Apple
Lunch: Same salad as Friday
Snack: 2 Mini twirl bar (18 syns) and prawn cocktail crisps (6.5 syns)
Dinner: Vegetable curry with rice.
However, then I consumed 35 syns of alcohol. Saturday was a really bad day.

Sunday:
Breakfast: 2 boiled eggs
Snack: Apple
Lunch: Same salad as before
Dinner: Salmon and rice

So I didn't syn on Sunday

Monday:
Breakfast: porridge with blueberries and raspberries
Snack: Two apples
Lunch: Vegetable soup and a free food salad.
Dinner: Spaghetti bolognese using free mince and pasta.

So as you can see, I had a really syn high day on Saturday and I'm trying not to go over my weekly syn of 105, so i'm having not to syn for the rest of the week as a result. I'm aiming to go jogging every other day for half an hour but i'm really worried that i'm going to have put on weight on my weigh in on Thursday. Has anybody got any tips for me to reduce the amount I syn + maximise the amount of weight i lose?

I'm trying really hard from now on, well since Sunday, and I know I messed up on Saturday, but i'll be so gutted if i've put on weight! My aim weight loss is 3 stones and I'm hoping to have lost a stone by June.

Don't deprive yourself. Don't cut out your syns for the rest of the week because that could make you go copletely off track.
So you went over on your syns for one day. You got right back on plan straight after, so you've tried to control any 'damage'.

There is something called 'Flexi-syns' that are ideal for when you've got a night out planned.
You basically pick an amount of syns to use on your night out (or day, whichever) and stick to that limit. Once you hit that limit, you go for syn free things instead. The following day you get straight back on plan, without avoiding syns.
You aren't meant to decide to use the flexi-syn option after you go out, it's there to help you pre-plan your week.
But the general idea of the plan is to get back on plan the next day, and not to avoid your syns.

When you add up what syns you've used between Friday and Saturday, you only used 72. That leaves you with 33 until your week ends. You can still use them, don't be scared to because you can end up going completely off trackand then you'll end up kicking yourself (I've been there loads of times!!)

With regards to how much you can lose, it differs per person. Don't measure yourself against other people (I know, easy to say, less easy to do... I still do it sometimes!) but if you've stuck to the plan every other day, and you've been eating plenty of speed foods, that's going to help you get the losses. Sometimes people have a better loss on their second week anyway because it can take some peoples bodies longer to take to SW. Don't think too much about your result for your first weigh in if you can, for now just focus on sticking to the plan for the rest of the week, and use syns where and when you want them, and don't feel guilty if you eat a bag of crisps within those syns!

Losing weight is a marathon, not a sprint, and losing 1 stone by June is a good goal to aim for for now

Hi and welcome

I agree totally about not cutting your syns out, eat them, you'll still lose. Also, get loads of speed and free food in those food diaries, don't go hungry.. this is not a normal 'diet' this is a way of eating, where you can eat the right foods as much as you like, and still lose.

Go for it! Don't hold back or you'll get bored / give up.
