SW SP for weeks-on-end? SP experts advise please!

Hi everyone, Ive been on slimming world for 5 months now and have lost nearly 2 stone. I've recently stopped going to meetings as my nearest one is about 6 miles away and its a bit too far in this cold winter along with other commitments. Still following the plan beautifully though

I'm getting married at the end of May and I'm desperate to loose another 3 stone as I've bought my dress a little too small!!

I was doing 1 day EE 1 day SP and was loosing roughly 3 pounds a week... My consultant said this was fine.. however I need to boost this weight loss as I need to loose 4-5 pounds a week to hit my target.

I've been achieving this so far, easily, on solid SP for the last 2 weeks... however...

I read somewhere you shouldn't do more than 2 weeks SP at a time. is there a reason for this? will i Plato? would you suggest have EE weekends and SP the week days? i's rather not do this as I must achieve my target.

I'm good at loosing weight. I lost 5 stone in about 4 months on the Dukan diet about 3 years ago so i'm fine with the no carbs thing. So if it's to save me from feeling deprived then i've got this and will stick to continuous SP

any advise from SP experts, id greatly appreciate!!

I'm no expert but would suggest your body will go into starvation mode if deprived for too long. I'd throw in some EE days just to get it kick-started again. 4-5lb a week is quite a big ask on SW. It's more usual to look at a consistent 2lb loss. SW is meant to be more of a healthy way of life rather than a crash diet.

Hey AliCat!!

I totally understand about the whole crash diet thing - I've tried many crash diets myself (Cambridge, Dukan and Slimfast) they're all fine as a temporary get slim quick plan but the minute you go back to normal eating.. that it!

Thats why I have loved slimming world so much.. it's just good ol' healthy eating. I don't even see it as a diet.

With SP, I get 2 hexB's a day (I normally have a cheese and onion toastie (inc. hexA) and then either some nuts, alpen bars or rivittas with homemade SP hommous.

So I am still getting some carbs through my healthy extras (also butternut squash, swede, lentils, baked beans etc...) The only thing I'm cutting out is potatoes, rice and pasta. I've never been a yoghurt lover so that doesn't bother me.

I'm not convinced about my body going into starvation mode as I'm still getting plenty of carbs a day?

Do you think they just recommend doing no more than 2 weeks of SP so people don't feel deprived... fall off the wagon and then never get back on?

It's not that your body will go into starvation mode as such, more that your body will get used to having the same things and that's when your losses stop or slow down. I would suggest throwing in some EE days like Ali said to kick start your losses if they stop or slow down.
The best thing to do with SW is to change your food around to keep your body working and it keeps your metabolism 'thinking' (if that even makes sense?? )

ahhhhh I get it!

Okay, shall I carry on SP until my weight loss starts to slow down and chuck in a couple of EE days then continue SP

or ...

do 5 days SP with 2 days EE a week

or ...

do 10 days SP with 2 days EE (have an Extra Easy weekend ever other weekend)

Thanks for all your help guys

My opinion, if it's working how you are doing it at the minute stick with it.
Then if you find your losses slow down, etc. Then change your days around and throw in some EE days too
