I put weight on-WHY

Hi all I'm a newbie, I started slimming world extra easy on my own 2 weeks ago 1st week I lost 5 3/4llbs. I weight myself on a wed but sneakily this wk I weighed the to see if I was on track I'd only lost 1/4lb but when I weighed myself this morning I weighed 2 1/2 lbs more. I'm hoping it's just water weight. This is what I ate

Breakfast-Boiled egg, 2 slices nimble bread, (bit margarine-syncs allowance)
Snack-Apple
Lunch-homemade veg soup, 2 ryvitas
Tea-mince with tomatoes and onions mixed in, used coconut fry light to cook it in, mashed carrots and swede
Supper- nothing I wasn't hungry
1 litre of water and coffee using my milk allowance
So is this normal.

Have you started exercising too? Or have you increased the amount of any exercise you did before starting SW?
The only other thing I can think of is that you've not drunk enough maybe. Generally you should drink at least 2 litres of water a day. It helps with weight loss.
Also, is it star week this week? Or is it coming in the next week or so?
I'm assuming you've weighed at exactly the same time as the first two WI's, and wearing the same or very similar clothing? And do you keep your scales in exactly the same place between WI's, or do you move them and get them out to weigh yourself?

There's plenty of reasons you haven't lost anything, and I'm sure we can find out why!

You can't really base a week on one day. No offence. Also mid-week weighing or daily like I do admittedly is not a great way to see what is going on.

now you've found our site, I can recommend posting a journal and sharing your food diary every day, it helps keep you accountable and we could help maybe on how you're doing. I'm sure you'll see a loss if you're eating similar to that every day but I'm not one for eating bread or ryvita so not sure if that would work out on the same day? might be worth looking into as I would have thought they would be HEb's or synned.

Hope you find the board supportive and stick around so we can share your journey with you.

That's a good point about the ryvita and the bread. You can have 2 slices of nimble as a healthy extra b choice, and the ryvita depends what flavour it is, but you have 2 dark rye/original crospbread as another b choice, or 3 Syns for them instead.
Are you having many Syns? You also don't look like you are having that many speed foods either...

I did wonder but wasn't sure.

It's tricky the first weeks to get things right on balance so try not to be disheartened, also weight loss on a 2nd week is known to be slower so try not to expect the same.

I'm sure with some planning and logging of your meals we can see a clearer picture and you can get back on track.

p.s. sweet potato isn't a speed, but it's a lot better for you than standard potato

Start a food diary and we can help out if you need it
Like PJ said, don't be too disheartened, losing weight is a marathon not a sprint. We're all in the same boat, and this place is so helpful and everyone is so supportive we get through those highs and lows that we all have

Would definitely start a food diary.

I also second what other people say about not weighing every day. I am in the nasty habit as well but it's really irrelevant. It may be water weight or it may be you need a poo (sorry if tmi but you'd be surprised). Weight fluctuates loads on a daily basis. Even a weekly weigh in will fluctuate (as many long term sw or slimmers will tell you) and the important thing is really over a few weeks to months and a nice steady downward trend over that time.

I am guilty however of not practicing what I preach and I understand how you feel. Just try and stay focused on all the positives. Even if your weight doesn't drop one week you are still making positive change with lots of healthy foods
