Lots of lovely holidays!! I must admit that, though I'm lucky to travel a lot, to be honest you can't beat a bit of UK. AND we often manage to take the dogs along then too which is even more fun. I know everyone moans about our weather but at least we're not stuck in monsoons or 8 months of drought and it certainly is a beautiful place.

Jaquie this time we're doing an all over so hubby can feel he's done it then. Last time we concentrated on west coast because son was there. I'm looking forward to the Ghan the most I think as we travel up the centre. Not sure what to pack at the mo as they're having freezing weather in the Sydney area but it's always boiling up in Darwin and Broome! Lots of layers!

Milly, I would love to go to Australia but OH won't fly that faar and we have 2 dogs anyway. They are both rescue dogs and when we got the first one we went on holiday after a while and put her in a home boarding place. When she came home she was so unmanageable we promised her we wouldn't leave her again. Hence the caravan, we take them every where with us now.

Looby, We have a Gobur Carousel. We bought our first one in March this year it was a 1989 model so 26yo, it was cheap as we have never carvaned before and didn't know if we or the dogs would take to it. We thought 'if we don't like it we can sell it on and not lose much or if we like it we can trade up' so we've just last weekend traded up! Same make same model but a few years younger and a different colour, a lot batter condition and a lot more of the things we found we needed but didn't have are already on it. Like a motor mover. OH has had great fun standing in the kitchen and moving 'Daisy2' round the courtyard and turning her in circles
The fold up caravans cause an awful lot of interest on sites don't they especially when 10 or 11 of us turn up at a rally
We tow her with a T5 Combi. Me and the doglettes in 'Daisy' and OH in the T5 on a mattress, which goes in fine as we've taken the 2nd row of seats out to accommodate it.

Alicat, My niece lived in Charmouth for a few years, she has moved into Dorchester now though. I'm sending lots of healing vibes out to you my lovely.

PurpleJ hope you are soon sorted job wise. My daughter was made redundant a while ago and can only pick up short term contracts, she's finding it so frustrating as there is no security. She wants to downsize to a cheaper property but all the time she is on these short term contracts she'll never get another mortgage so is stuck with one she can't really afford.

JaquiE, We love France. We have made a lot of friends over there. We go to the Dordogne usually but this time we are hoping to go to different regions.

PurpleJ I know only too well about that kind of contract. OH was on a few like that until the beginning of this year when he managed to get a full time job again. It makes life really difficult when you have to rely on the OT doesn't it.

Looby Hello So where in Scotland are you headed? (nosey me). I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the weather is really crap up here just now. I've had to put my heating back on. Liking the sound of a folding caravan. Have you any pics? It might persuade OH to get out and about - he put a stop to the tent because it was cold (wee soul )

Milly That sounds like an amazing holiday. OH brother lived there for a while, he started off in Perth and ended up in Brisbane. We never managed to visit (financial and it's a reeeeeeeaaaaaalllllly long flight)

Woggles Oh your poor doggy. Sounds like the caravan is the best idea. I must admit I don't like leaving our cats either. They get really stressed. Wee souls. OH was brought up in the south, near Nice. It's so nice. When we go we tend to head back there. We really should try somewhere else, shouldn't we.

Well OH and I are heading out for some Lunch / Dinner tomorrow. I think he's taking me to Jamie Olivers place. (Def not counting my syns tomorrow). We've been together 11 years and engaged for 10 so it's a wee anniversary treat. We keep saying we really should get married but we've never been in the position. It would be nice though. We've kinda said it would be nice to get married on our "anniversary" next year so that's why I've been looking for my ideal dress (and why I badly need to shed some pounds)

Well - that's my lunch over. I suppose I'd better go get some work done.

Catch you all later

Feeling fab today - took middle daughter (10) to the yard for a ride and farrier visit. We groomed and rode both horses (first time I've ridden my boy for a few months due to my weight - felt good to be down enough to know he wouldn't struggle). I've been keeping him fit just from the ground.

Farrier came, stable and field duties then home at 3pm so we were down there over 5 hours. Lovely weather (at last) normally that only happens when I'm working. lol

picnic in the country park soon for us all and the dog (he won't have a picnic). lol

Hi there.

We're staying in some cottages close to Crawfordjohn near Douglas. It was the closest we could get to our relatives who live along the Clyde Valley in Crossford.

Me and my sister and our families, along with our mum are all heading up. Mum turned 80 at the end of June, so she is having her 'Scottish' 80th birthday do with all the relatives whilst we're up, having already had her 'English' 80th party down here already.

I keep checking the weather forecast, and it is quite clear that it is going to remain wet and cold. Just been out with hubby searching for jumpers to buy!

Typical though that this week will probably be the only decent week down here, and we're heading to the horrible weather. Oh well....can't be helped!

Ooh...Goburs are the posh end of the Folding Caravan Market. We bought cheaply and in haste with our Esterel...which turned out to be really rotten! It was a 1980 van, and huge! So it was named 'The Beast'. The corner broke the first time we tried to fold it down, and then after some repairs we were able to use it for about 18 months. And it worked really well for us as a family. But then, another corner failed, and whilst hubby and his friends tried to repair it, they let the roof fall on the back wall, smashing the window. At that point, we realised there was little point trying to repair, and decided to sell for spares. So I advertised on a facebook Esterel page, and there was a fella in Dundee who need the whole interior. So, as we were heading to Scotland to visit relatives, I offered to tow the whole thing to Scotland for him.

Anyway...whilst on that same holiday, I searched the internet for other folders, and that's when we found the Rapido...it's a 1986, so newer than our Esterel, but in such fab condition! So we went to view, and had to have her. So this is 'Ronnie the Rapido'...

Oh wow!! I'm seriously jealous, would love a tent / camper of some sort - there are 5 of us. we've got an old dog at the moment who can't go far but hoping after he's passed (not that I'm wishing him away) we could get another big tent and get some holidays in.

I'm getting the itch to go camping again. I think I'll need to have a chat with OH and maybe dig the tent out

Looby that's nothing like what I imagined it to look like. It's much posher. I didn't expect it to be so kitted out. Very smart.

Well I've been a naughty girl and got the credit card out.. not for a tent, but for a fly rug for my horse (he was suffering today and his is too small) and a pair of riding boots for me... got the rug half price (end of season sale but we've got summer still to come) and boots had a tenner off.. added to that free delivery Our nearest tack shop is 20 miles away so it makes sense to buy online.

A lovely treat and end to a busy day.
