A gain ...

Hi everyone,

Well ive had a pound and a half gain tonight at weigh in.

Ive been a member of SW for just over 3 weeks now and havent lost much but have felt so much better in myself, not having that horrible bloating , full feeling in my stomach is just one of them !..im so used to feeling like that so of an evening I feel like I deserve a treat , and guestimate my syns
Why oh why oh why !!!!!

Im sorry for sounding off , kind of hoping that maybe some people out there who know where im coming from and may have some tips?
Yours hopefully

Sorry to hear you've had a gain. At least you know where it's come from. Still frustrating, but at least you can do something about it.

As for tips, I always make sure I've got syn free snacks in the house. So tonight after dinner, I've munched on a bowl of strawberries and raspberries with a mullerlight yogurt. Then I had a slice of watermelon. And later, as my 'treat', I've saved half my healthy B so I can have my chocolate fix in the form of a Hifi Light Double Choc bar.

I also keep a note pad with me, where I just jot down my syns for the day as I have them. Keeps me on track.

Hope some of that helps. x x x

Thankyou looby..and congratulations on a fantastic loss, thats some achievement !
I have stocked right up on fruit, veg , mullers, lean meats and actually spending a small fortune tbh, it is the evenings that i do struggle with , but reading in an old magazine too freeze the mullerlite yoghurts so they take longer to eat... put 2 in there tonight so heres hoping it works and i dont get a massive brain freeze !

We've all been there, but you'll lose that again this week.

I think you've hit the nail on the head where you've said about 'guestimating syns'. Try not to do that - you might think something is only a couple of syns, but without checking, it might be 10 or something ridiculous. Like pot noodle...you wouldn't think it, but some of those are 9 syns!

Have you been keeping a food diary? I had a couple of not so good weeks, but since I started keeping a food diary properly, I've had a couple of really good weeks.

Sorry you feel so rubbish about the gain... It's not a fun thing to find when you get on the scales.

Like the others have said, keep free treats around the house. Another tip would be to buy things that are synned, but write the syns on them before you put them in the cupboard/fridge. I know plenty of people who have a 'syn box' and they keep things like Freddos, Kit Kats, the mini packets of Haribo, or some biscuits, and write the syns for each thing on the packet (5 syns for a Freddo, 5.5 for a 2 finger Kit Kat, 1 for each Rich Tea Finger, 4.5 syns for 25g of Haribo, etc.) and that way they know how many syns they're eating. Check the Syns Online section on the website before you do your shop to find some low syn treats (or buy the thin purple low syn snack directory from group) That way you don't end up buying something that's really high in syns. There are usually free alternatives that you can make, but for me personally, I prefer to syn the real thing.
One of my favourite treats are the mini Twister ice lollies... 2.5 syns per lolly, so if I've had very few syns, and really crave something sweet (or cold on a hot day!) I can have one or two of those.

Keep a notepad close to you so you can note down any syns through out the day, and then you now what you can have in the evenings.
Keeping a food diary is key for me. Once I stop writing everything down, I lose track completely and end up with a gain.

Good luck for the rest of the week hun, don't let that gain get to you and send you off track completely. What's done is done, there's no way to change it now. All you can do is to start fresh, and try to write everything down

Thankyou to everyone for the encouragement.
Have just been shopping and love the idea of a 'syn box' and writing the syns on each item.
Its all about planning isnt it...and when youre a bit of a scatterbrain like me thats not always easy to do ?!
But if I want this its only me that can doit eh xx
