It's so hard! If I don't take mon i can guarantee a customer will buy me a cake or my cashier will go get me sweets ha! Lost just under 2 pound last week and I can't even see it or feel but I'm feeling better in myself doing excersise and eating right but I'm scare when I'm back to work il slip into old eating habits and I'm still at the stage where a chippy is more appealing to me than a salad!!

Yeah I know exactly what you mean, if I slip up I let it ruin the rest of the week till I've been weighed and can reset myself. (Can't do that anymore though so I need to get a grip)

I think the best thing you can do is be prepared, at least you know what your up against and can think of ways to go about them. If someone gives u cake u don't have to eat it there and then, what about passing it on to someone else? Or just outright binning it if not(I know it's bad to waste food but just because it's there doesn't mean you should eat it) you can do it!

Is the problem that it's overwhelming to think of how much you want to lose and how long you think you'll need to be on this diet to do it (been there, I understand) so you get disheartened and throw the towel in? If so, can I suggest you set yourself mini-goals and rewards..I'll lose 7lbs or maybe I'll have ten 'good day's in a row and then I'll reward myself (new top, book whatever).

Alternatively, have a small cake/sweets each day and it can be included in your syns so you're still on plan, you've not blown it, no need to beat yourself up. I used to find that if I'd indulged a bit and perhaps gone over my syns by 1 or 2, then I'd say to myself what's the point, damage is done now I might as well have the entire biscuit tin, I'm never going to be slim etc etc and a massive binge would follow. But that makes no sense. It's like throwing out an entire vase of flowers just because 1 flower has drooped. None of us are perfect, just be kinder to yourself.

Hi, one thing I was told is that in a very basic kind of way your brain tries to achieve what you think about. Its popular in a lot of self help books to say you have your human brain with all your goals and social skills and a more powerful animal, monkey or lizard brain Whichever term floats your boat. When you are thinking of a sweet in any context i.e. am not got to eat that sweet, your animal brain with no language skills grasps sweet and wants you to eat it. There are a few different strategies in dealing with this. The first lot using NLP are very well explaind in Paul Mckennas book : "I Can Make you Thin". Things like using your imagination against itself. Picture the same sweet but after it has been dropped on the floor and has a thick black hair on it. Some grey and green fluff now coats the top and there are fingerprints on the surface. Maybe even a toenail clipping stuck in. lol, have fun with it. The other is by using Distraction techniques. Again there is an excellent book on this called "The Marshmallow Test, Understanding Self-Control and how to Master It" by Walter Mischel. My personal favorites is to use basic Meditation. I got this awesome book with loads of different techniques taken from religions and cultures throughout history. But some people hum there favorite songs or have a safe place etc, person even spirit guide ... whatever works. Just has be capable of refocusing your attention and fun Hope some of this rambling helps am waiting for the canteen to open so I can get my bacon and sausage barm

I agree with Jo.will.Be.Slim, I'd set yourself a mini goal and the reward yourself after you've obtained it. I restarted SW again a couple of weeks ago, so I'm still finding it hard in some respects to limit what I'm having, or to swap something like chocolate for something alot less in syns.
Why not just ask people not to buy you things? Surely they'd be happy to cheer you on with wanting to eat healthier and lose some weight. If you don't want to tell them you're losing weight, just go with the healthy eating thing.
Also, don't forget that starting to do exercise when you haven't done any for some time will 'slow down' the weight loss. It doesn't stop, but because you have excess fluid in your muscles fromthe exercise, you may not look like you are losing as much as you'd hope. You'll most liekly start to lose inches though, so even when you see a small 1lb loss, you may have lost a couple of inches form the exercise, so don't let that dishearten you either

We all have those foods that are always more appealing than a salad (mine's Indian and Chinese food ), and there's nothing stopping you from having them, but just bear in mind that you need to consider what you want more, the chippy, or the drop in weight? It's not an overnight thing, it takes time, but you will get there, you just have to make allowances for things when you want them (I'm in exactly the same boat as you, but I've been telling myself all of this for the last 2 weeks, so I'm hoping this is the last time I have to re-start SW!)

And I'll stop rambling now I get carried away lol!

If sweets are your downfall, try making these;

Jelly Sweets 3 syns for whole lot
2 sachets of sugar free jelly (1.5 syns each)
2 sheets of gelatine or 1 sachet of powdered gelatine
1 pot Muller Light yoghurt
Mix the jelly and gelatine in pint of boiling water, pour 2 thirds of the mixture in to the mould and put in the fridge to start to set.
Mix remaining jelly with the Muller light and pour on top of the mould.
Put it back in the fridge to set.

They're really nice and have kept me away from the heavily synned sweets!

Don't forget to take your measurements. You may find you aren't losing weight but the inches are dropping.
