Syn free chips?

I tried making some syn free chips tonight but they didn't come out very well

How long do you part boil them for?

How do you make yours? Are they meant to be like french fries because mine where properly cooked in the middle

I zap mine in the microwave for about 5 mins (portion for one) and then bake for about 40 mins. They come out soft in the middle and crisp on outside. I use Frylite on them too.

We just chop them into chip shapes, and bake in a really hot oven (although its an aga so you never quite know what the temperature is!) for 30 mins. Usually come out fine -the thinner they are, the crispier they are.

I usually cut the potatoes really thin, never par boil (too lazy for that), I do peel the potatoes.

Spray frylight on the tray and on top of the chips, make sure they don't overlap, I then sprinkle with a beef oxo cube or paprika.

Leave them in the oven for around 25 mins at 225 degrees.

It took me ages to perfect the chips! Only just cracked the sweet potato chips (no par boil, just cook for 45 mins)

Good luck!

Also I find they come out better if you cut them into cubes rather than long chip shapes, not sure why?

I agree with you here, my roasties turn out far better. I tend to par boil then then put them in a container, a quick spritz of the frylight spray, some salt (and other herds/spices), close the container, shake them and then pop then on a bakin try. They come out lovely and crispy and the feel even naughtier than the SW chips!

I never par boil either. I make good wedges that way, they're amazing sprinkles with cajun spices and cooked for around 40 mins! I regularly top up the fry light too whilst they're cooking

If I cheat and use tinned new potatoes (cheap as you like, no difference) and cut them into wedge style chips, spray with frylight and sprinkle with salt and pepper etc, they come out the most successful of all the combos I've tried in the past.
