Mushy pea curry/sauce

Hi! I know this has done the rounds for yonks but I had to comment! I've been wanting to make this but couldn't find mushy peas in Bulgaria. Found dried peas and made some - lovely. Just made this for dinner tonight. O worth the wait - it's gorgeous! I'm not a lover of beans so I blended everything and it is now exactly like chip shop curry! So simple too. I tweaked a couple of recipes I saw and ended up with this if anyone's interested.

Mushy pea curry/sauce

3 small onions
100 ml veg stock
6 small cloves garlic
homemade mushy peas - about 2 cans
homemade tomatoes - about 1 can
1 can baked beans
2 tbsp curry powder - but I added another one
2 tsp coriander
1 tsp cumin
0.5 tsp mild chilli powder

1. Dice and fry onions in frylight till soft - 20 mins. Add garlic for 2 mins. Add stock, curry powder and chilli and simmer 10 mins.
2. Add peas, beans and toms, stir and simmer on very low heat (or it'll catch) for 20 mins.
3. Taste. I added more curry powder, some coriander and cumin for my taste.
4. Wasn't keen on the beans as they'd separated from their skins so I blended everything. Yum

sounds really good! I will give this a try this weekend and test my wife with it as she loves my usual sinful recipe.

I let you know how I get on!

Ooh james let me know how it goes! My OH doesn't like heat and said it was just hot enough - he loved it but next time he wants meat in it. I'm doing red n green days so had it with loads of chips. The only thing I would say was that it was ever so slightly too thick for me so next time I'll thin it down a bit after blending. The skins come off the baked beans (yuk) so I wouldn't want to eat it unblended - I have this 'thing' about skins! Also mine was brown not orange - but I've never had orange curry sauce from a chippy! Try it x

AliCat make it - if they like chip shop curry sauce with their fish n chips they'll love it!

Bevziibubble - it was and all free yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! xxx

Luckily I had enough left to freeze so curry n chips for me tomorrow night! Let's just hope the supermarket here (Bulgaria) doesn't run out of dried peas - they don't sell mushy so I make my own. This is going to sound weird but I'm going to have mushy peas with it as well - chips, curry n mushy peas! All that's missing is the vimto x
