Fish?

How do you like it? I have tried it a few times but no one in the family likes it and I may have prepped it wrong. What is a simple recipe to get some fish into our meals that everyone will like?

I used to do salmon quite often wrapped in tin foil with a squirt of lemon on top and baked in the oven! Or things like fish pie, you can buy fish pie mix in the supermarket and add some White sauce and top with mash!

Only fish I like is battered cod from the chippy so that's not really helpful is it? Sorry

Chances are you won't find a way that everyone will like. If someone truly doesn't like fish, it's hard to disguise the taste no matter what you do. Get the mildest fish you can, like haddock or cod, and then add other flavors to the recipe to help tone down the fishy taste. Baked in a little milk with sliced onions is one way that really cuts the fishy taste.

I'm not a big fan of fish unless it is breaded and fried. That's a no-no for me right now so I don't usually eat it. I do love tuna and crab salads, though, and have found a few healthier ways to make those.

What about a stir fry with shrimp? That's usually mild enough for most people to enjoy.

I like fish for the taste and texture, but I worry terribly about bones - if we have it (we usually steam it by the way), I will pull it apart into tiny bits before eating any. As such, the thought of fish pie had always terrified me (so many different fish, all jumbled together and hidden from view so I can't see any bones?!) till my mum explained to me that when you make it you flake the cooked fish before putting it with the sauce. So I tried it and it was brilliant! Really small bone-free flakes of salmon, cod and smoked haddock, mixed with peas, sweetcorn and spinach, all under a (thin) layer of (low fat) mash. It's one of my new favourite meals!
