Food gift

I got a holiday package in the mail from one of my friends that lives far from me. She sent me dark chocolate covered almonds and some cashews. Both are lovely, but not exactly helpful when trying to lose weight. She seems to think that having a few each day would be a nice treat and not hurt my diet. She is giving me way more credit for self control than I actually have.

I ate way too many of the chocolate almonds last night. I ate them until I started to feel sick. I had to hide them in the freezer to avoid another binge like that. They are good, and I appreciate the gesture, but I really wish that people wouldn't send food gifts when they know a person is dieting.

My husband gets all sorts of baskets like this from his work people and every holiday I regret even touching the things. So far I have been pretty good with a single cookie and two little pieces of white chocolate. It is very tempting though so I told him to hide them from me.

Food as a gift can be sooo tempting when on a diet! My parents just gave us a load of chocolates etc and we have eaten quite a few already!

It is just really hard for me to stop once I dig in and start eating these things. It's best if I don't even start at all. I'm too much of an all or nothing type of eater. If I mess up a little, I figure that I may as well go all the way with it. That is definitely an attitude I need to change.

I'm the same way Twyla Dee. When I start munching away and can't stop, I generally just munch until I can't eat any more. That way I'm satisfied and don't think about the goodies. Then.......I start all over again. The best way for me is to simply put things out of sight. Why can't people just give gift cards?

I am the same. Everything in moderation they say. My willpower is horrible! I don't eat junk food often, so when I do eat it, I pig out.

I think a lot of people assume a food gift is a good gift, and it can be for many but when they don't know you are trying to avoid the tempting stuff it can get out of hand really quick too.

If there is one thing I am proud of this year (last year), it's what I did during Christmas. I took most of the food gifts I received, I repackaged them and offered them as Christmas presents to other people. That really helped me a lot, so I ended up eating only a few of them.
