This may sound strange...

I got some wonderfully scented candles for Christmas but I cannot use them! For example, one is strawberry buttercream and the other is called vanilla float. They smell so good but they set off food cravings like mad!

Am I crazy or does anyone else have this kind of problem with scents that set off hunger and cravings?

It tends to be bad food that sets me off ... I have to avoid the fresh bakery side of the bread aisle in Sainsburys for example, I miss buying the cheese twists

Lucky for me, I can't stand food-scented candles. They smell too cloying. I stick with spices or floral scents. Some fruity scents can do well, but that's a rarity more often than not.

I definitely know what you mean Jeans. The ones that get me are the vanilla scented candles. I mean, how ridiculous do you have to be to want vanilla in your house? Unless it's actually food baking, I don't want it!

That would probably set me off too. They do smell good enough to eat!

Smelling food-smelling anything makes me hungry. Maybe give the candles to a friend or something and buy some new candles that don't smell like food.

Yes, it's pretty bad when you find yourself wanting to lick a candle because it smells so good.

I have been using one in the kitchen that smells like lilacs. It is making me wish spring would hurry up and get here.

I love the Yankee cherry it's my fav, I don't do floral smells so I glad I don't have the urge to lick a candle
