Hi y'all from GA!

Hi y'all! I'm from the deep south - Georgia to be exact - and I have been battling with my weight since childhood. For the first time in my life though, I am actually "sticking with it" and seeing some positive results!

Yay for positive results! That is always encouraging to hear. Every time I start to backslide and learn about someone else being able to overcome and get the weight off, I get motivated!

The "moderation" diet! I've tried all kinds of eating programs over the years, including Weight Watchers, Nutrisystem, Atkins, etc. Right now I am just using MyFitnessPal to track nutritional stats and as I'm learning where my weaknesses are (carbs/sugar) I am reining those foods in and making healthier choices instead. I'm grocery shopping more and making most of my food at home now, and I've pretty much eliminated the dining out and fast food. I'm also exercising every other day to everyday, depending on the soreness factor.

A sensible diet. That is pretty much what I try to do, PaintedNails. I take smart advice from all the different diet plans and tailor it to what fits my life and works for me.

Thanks for the welcomes everyone. Jeans, I know what you mean about pulling a little bit from all the different diet plans out there. I learned a lot when I was doing Weight Watchers and Nutrisystem specifically, and I still follow many of the principles they taught. For example, if I forget to measure a food and then realize it when I go to log it into MyFitnessPal, I automatically log 2 servings instead of just 1, which is something they taught back when I was a member. (The logic being that if you didn't measure, you probably overestimated and wound up eating about twice what a normal serving is.)
