Another newbie 😊

Hi all, another newbie here hope everyone are all ok, right I may need a bit of advice here, Iím currently 12 stone 7 and need to lose weight from the upper body, the concern I have is I eventually want to put on weight in the right way to get bigger but I need to lose fat from the upper body first, the problem is I donít want to end up skinny so I donít know weather to eat in the right way now but donít want to end up just fat or lose the weight and tone up first then try to put the weight on and howís the best way to do it, any advice would be much appreciated thanks mark.

Hi Mark

Welcome to Social Slimmers

Your way forward is weight training ... you donít sound like you need to lose body Ďweightí but body fat while building muscle.

Eat less to lose body fat and eat more to build muscle so you want to go between weights training at high intensity and low intensity.... I think!

Basically your goals have nothing to do with your scales for the majority.

A local strength and conditioning gym would be worth looking up, a crossfit facility would be my first look up ... I train at one, our coach is a trainer for Wales weight lifters, it is t just crossfit but lots of memberships and different options including nutritional help which would be macros for your goals.

I hope that makes sense!

Nooooo you have to eat to your goals. I would train and target he body fat first. You want high protein so you should consume least 1g of protein per pound of your bodyweight, daily while training and you do need to be in a calorie deficit.

Bodybuilding has some great articles and take a look at this calculator:
https://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/macronutcal.htm

The whole don't eat after 5...7 etc is a myth. As long as it's food within your goals it's fine. For some it might help mentally to stop snacking/extra snacking in the evening and it becomes a healthy routine from a bad old one but no you don't have to be so limiting to yourself and time.
