Its a new game, but the aim of this game: change for the better!

Hi all, I'm James.

I had a very active youth growing up, which suddenly stopped as soon as I become an expatriate in West Africa 6 years ago. The sudden lack of active sports and the amount of social drinking and eating over the past six years has put me from a muscular 6ft 4 95kg guy to a plump 6ft 4 132kg guy.

After each step up in jeans, shirts etc. its a sudden shock, but soon acceptable after realising you once again had clothes that fit, although bigger, until a year or two later when you have to change again and short term shock sets in.

Last week, when playing with my 5yr old son, I had a sudden, but very real realisation that I was completely overweight and unfit to play sports with my active (rather hyperactive) young boy.

So here it is, time for change, with real motivation!

I have started Slimming World, cut out alcohol (for the time being) and joined my first every forum!

I never thought of joining a forum for any reason before, but really want to give it a try and hope to gain some support.

I work abroad most of the year and it is hard to find an expat which wants to keep in shape rather than shape themselves around the bar, so really just looking for that support to keep on track. I know I will stay on track whilst home in Scotland, but fear the worst when travelling and entertaining customers.

Look forward to talking to you all.

J

Hey James!

Welcome to Social Slimmers. Sounds like you have your motivation there... your wee boy

What do you do for a living? Nosey

I never gave up vodka Friday really but I do drink so much less than I ever did. The odd weekend off happens. I'm on a ban right now actually as per my coaches instructions #blergh lol
