Hello!

Now before I start I am anything but slim, so my name is in jest!

Anyway, on Tuesday evening I took the plunge and signed up for slimming world.

Now there are two reasons for this.

Firstly, my fiance is struggling with her weight loss for our wedding next year so in an attempted to be a supporting future husband I agreed to go along and get involved.

Secondly, I could do with losing a few pounds for the wedding as well.

Yesterday seemed to be fairly easy (however it was a busy day at work) however today I seem to be very hungry (despite having had a large salad at lunch).

I'm not a vegatable and fruit lover so this is a big challenge to me.

My biggest weaknesses are fizzy pop and chocolate, both of which I have replaced (grapes for chocolate and water for pop), we shall see how long I can manage.

I have set myself a target of two stone for Christmas and my fiance has gone for 3.

Our second weigh in is on Tuesday evening so thought i'd sign up here for some tips and support.

Look forward to speaking to some of you.

It's very good of you to be supporting your fiance. She's obviously caught a good one! If you're feeling hungry, go for the free foods that are filling, such a potatoes, pasta, rice and plenty of protein. That's the joy of the plan. Aim for speed foods at every meal to help the weight loss. Fizzy drinks can be sugar free and maybe use some of your syns on chocolate so that you don't feel deprived. Good luck!

Good luck MrSlim. If you're anything like my OH you'll have a sugar crash and end up with a sore head. Try to have something sweet but low in SYNs like a Freddo bar on hand just in case. Better that than falling off the wagon completely. But if you do, don't worry about it, just get back on plan asap. One meal at a time.

Hi and welcome!

You are definitely being a great future husband, it is a great journey to be on together. It does make it harder when one in the relationship is eating all the food you crave!

I love fizzy juice, but if you have sugar free you an still have on SW. Although I would say a balance with water is best, the more water I have the better the weight shift I feel. I like to buy syn treats and keep them in a tin that are 5-6syns or less. This way I can have my chocolate fix, but still be on plan/ If I really crave it I could have 3. Also individual pots of icecream are great at around 10syns a portion, quite worth it if you love ice cream.

It is nice to have goals, and your wedding will give you the motivation.

Hi, welcome to Social Slimmers.

As the others have said, well done for supporting your fiancee and doing this with her. I'm sure it will make all the difference having each other as support.

I love fizzy juice and refuse to completely give it up. I drink Coke Zero which, along with many of the diet versions of popular drinks, is syn free on Slimming World. I don't like tea or coffee, so it's the only thing I drink besides water (and a hot chocolate). I do however limit myself to one or two cans a day, and try to drink loads of water as well.

That's great you are both going into the healthier eating together. Lot's of luck reaching your targets.

Berries are a good fruit option and have more benefits ... plus will help curb a sweet tooth
