New and in need of help!

Hello!

My name is Megan, and ten months ago I moved to Liverpool to live with my boyfriend. I have gained two stone and am now at my heaviest, and I am currently doing slimming world on my own. My aunt and friends have the books and so I'm going on what the books say, they're the new recent ones too.

I have lost two pounds in two weeks and I feel I could have lost so much more, I just don't know where I'm going wrong..

I did a clean eating diet and I lost five pounds in a week, along with exercise. The diet was boring and I felt like I couldn't have anything with my meals because then they wouldn't be 'clean'. Whereas with slimming world nothing is off limits, and you're just changing the way you eat.

But yes ... That's me

Thanks very much! I think the only thing I have trouble with is having 1/3 of veg on my dinner plate, I can have half and then loads of fruit but, my god... So much veg?? Haha :')

Hi Megan, I was having trouble with my weight, I was eating really clean, but I think I was eating too much. Also be careful with fruits, they are very high in sugar. I've been making nice smoothies with my nutribullet to help me get more veg in, because I was struggling to physically eat it all. I am a distributor for body wraps so I've been doing those in addition to the smoothies, seems to be working well!

Hey Jessica,

I tend to stay away from smoothies because with slimming world it changes the whole concept of 'free fruits' - yet I was drinking green smoothies on my clean diet and I did well. It was just so limiting, and j wanted a diet that I can enjoy too

Are you having enough syns? Some people think that avoiding your syns will help you lose quicker, but if you make sure you have your syns (they recommend between 5-15 a day, but try having around 10) you are more likely to lose.

Also, some people just don't lose more than 1-2lbs a week. I'm a prime example. I've never lost more than 2lbs a week the entire time I've done SW. And I've been a member for nealry 5 years now. (I lost it all, and put it back on )
You sound like you've had a really good eating mind set by doing the clean eating, and avoiding the usual fast foods, etc. so your body will be used to the good foods that Sw promote.
They encourage 1/3 of your plate to be veg as it's filling, and more likely to fill you for longer.

The only thing I can say is to stick to it for a few more weeks, sometimes it takes a few weeks for it to 'kick in'

If you want any advice or suggestions about what you are eating, why not start a food diary on here, and we can help out if needed

Thanks Sarah, yeah I do somewhat eat my syns. I try to stick to 10 syns anyway, and I try to be careful. I was thinking that maybe my body needs to get used to it all, so I'll see what happens in this third week.
I want to lose two pounds because when that'll take me to a four pound loss in three weeks

As for starting a food diary, do I just start writing in the food diary forum for it?

Yup Just click on New thread and type away

In our group we usually suggest people stick to it for 4-6 weeks if they aren't happy with their initial first 2 losses... like you said, gives your body time to get used to it, and if they aren't happy then, then they'll try something else

Thanks for your help - I'm now on a PC and can update everything better, I was on my iPhone before, and everything looked a little odd. I have added today's meal plan to the thread

Hi Megan,

Welcome to Social Slimmers

I try to eat clean but I am not 100% I also have off plan days. I also found on browsing around there can be a little debating about what foods are clean so I found adapting it to suit me works. Good fats are ok in moderation, recently I found I was probably eating too much of the good fats (nuts and almond butter) but wholegrain and avoiding long-life/processed foods is the main key. What did you find restrictive?

1-2lbs a week is healthy plus I think your current size has a lot to do with it ... the bigger I was the bigger numbers I had each week but it fazed out fairly quickly.

Food diary would be helpful to have a quick look and see how you are getting on. Only tip I have for SW is the free pasta, rice and potatoes should be within moderation. Small portions and not something wheat or grainy for 'every' meal.
