Hey everybody!

Hey everybody and happy New Year! I wanted to join a weight loss forum for the support; I live in a house with someone who is naturally fit and doesn't understand what it's like to be overweight or to struggle with overeating.

Hi Beanie and welcome! Best of luck with your weight loss. I know how hard it can be when you live with someone who doesn't understand how difficult it is!

Hi Beanie

Everyone here understands that

You going to be following a plan, or just cutting down?

Thanks for the welcome everyone. Mitch, I am going to try general cutting back and healthier substitutions first. Switching the whole milk out for 1%, that sort of thing.

Wobbles, no, my partner doesn't do dedicated exercise, but he has a physical labor job so he's on the move all day long. Plus, everyone in his family is pretty much naturally fit and lean. Everyone in my family, on the other hand, is overweight.

Hello Beanie!

I hope your partner is nice about your weight even if he doesn't understand it? My family have the fat genes too.

I am like you I'm not following a plan.

Yeah, he is nice about it, thank God! He has said countless times in the past that he doesn't care if I don't lose weight, so it is nice to know there's no pressure coming from him. Still, it's something I'm not happy with (and never have been) so I told him I'd probably be making meals separately from him for a while (if not permanently).

Same here. It's hard for them to understand. People are different and putting on weight doesn't equal being 'lazy' but that's most people's idea of that.
