You really need to be on 1200 at the very lowest. You body needs that just to survive. The best low cal foods to eat when hungry are things like celery, cucumber, most fruit and veg actually although bear in mind that some are more calories, but usually more filling. Say something like cucumber or celery is really low cal but that's cos its mostly water so wont keep you full for very long. An apple is about 60 cals, but keeps you full for longer cos its fibrous.

Good tips princessellie. The right snacks definitely keep you fuller for longer. Drinking water is a good idea, but be careful not to overdose - you can make yourself really ill if you drink too much! If you're still struggling, try to keep busy. It's amazing how quickly hunger goes away if you distract yourself with something that really occupies your mind.

I really admire you guys being able to do the 5:2 properly. I find 500 calories is a bit too low for a day's eats. My diet is a little bit like the 5:2 but it's the other way round lol, I diet for 5 days then eat what I like for 2 however the diet days are not as extreme as the 5;2

I have never fasted before like this, but I am considering it. It must be really hard to eat less than half of your normal calorie intake. How do you get through it? I think that for the first few times I would be really cranky with everyone and super hungry!

So is this type of fasting only allowing X calories per day? That is the trouble I have with it, I know I need something (specifically sugar otherwise I am ready to pass out in no time at all). Could someone like me pull this off?

For my fasting days I make 2 thermos flasks of Heinz big soups. Work out between 450-600 cals depending which ones I use. Whenever am hungry have a cup full. Other than that I use herbal teas to take the edge off and drink plenty water.

Started doing 5:2 again. Got a good idea from book for fasting days. Have watered down protein powder mix every couple of hours. Keeps me full and way under calories. Bit more to it than that, involving alchemical mixes of teas,fruit juices and brain pills, lol. Cant go into details as not my plan Seems to be working judging by the slack on my trouser waistline. ( Had a disagreement with my scales so waiting to get some more )
