I am not trying to be argumentative, but you will have to forgive me if I don't believe the "health advice" of someone trying to sell a diet plan. I would prefer to believe a doctor who tells me that fasting may allow for short term weight loss, but it also leads to slower metabolism that leads to long term weight gain over the course of time.

its not just about selling a plan...obvioulsy dont really know what you sell...its just about fasting 2 days a week . there is being plenty of clinic researches like for any kind of dieting for a way of living as well you can google it if you want ..http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-25498742

its not more harmful that doing a shake diet or other diet etc...but like i said each on there own i find that myself so far so good . i like it . i am training for a half marathon havent impact my training as well so far .

Yeah it's actually a diet that many Drs recommend because of the added benefits to cholestoral levels etc. It is good as a lifestyle choice, and once you reach your goal weight you change to a "maintenance plan" which only has you eat 5/600 calories for ONE day out the week, the rest you eat healthy.

I have been back on the 5:2 for just over 3 weeks and have also lost 5lbs in that time which is much more than I was losing!

There are too many positive studies done to back it up, you only have to do a bit of research to see how many people have benefited from it.

Well done on your loss Befit!!!

5:2 diet

Hi,

This is the first time I heard of such a diet. Is this diet meant to be a long term process or is it just a temporary solution like a couple of weeks or months until you achieve your goals?

Aaron0669 like Kiwifrootkai mentioned above its more like a life style afterward once you achieve the weight lost you want you can reduce the fast day by just one . right now i am doing to fast day about 600 cals a day ( monday and Thursday ) and then the other day i eat about 1800 cals a day . i think once i am at my weight goal i may just do one fast a week and probably could up my other days cals as well . As i am exercising so . its really a way of living .
Main benefits so far is #1 i lose weight , #2 saving on grocery shopping and also i am kind of the person that is not regular with sorry tmi #2 to go to bathroom but with this plan you can be sure i can the following day of the diet ! and its great because i am not as bloated as much anymore and i feel great ! Also i have way more energy
