Half Marathon

I am running my first half marathon this year- The Perkins Great Eastern Run on October 11th after losing weight over the past couple of years. I am quite nervous although i have been training and they also offer free training sessions which i will be taking part in. I wondered if anyone else has ever done this race and how did you find it? And was was your first half marathon like? Thank you.

I thought about doing this, as I live in peterborough so thought it would be good to have something to aim for.
I know a few people who have done it, and I know a few that are signed up for it this year. Hope your training goes well.

I was meant to be running a half this weekend but life went upside down and I stopped running ... haven't really gained an interest back for it but my 10k did give me the rush to want more and a friend on FB every time she does a race she always wants more ... you will be running a full marathon before you know it Megan?

Good luck you will be fine. Forget 'time' enjoy the experience.

Thank you very much for your advice. It's a shame that you have stopped running. Where abouts are you based? Anywhere near Peterborough?

North West ... I was meant to be running the Chester half. I tried giving my entry away but couldn't find anyone so it went to waste! I moved house and didn't do any running (or gym) for 6 months, it really set me backwards.

I am going to try do some hiit sprints in June for fat burning but have lost my love for long distance running and competing with myself. My chest kills when I run and I found out I had exercise induced asthma .. I guess some people just take to it others don't body and/or mind !
