opinions on my diet?

Hi everyone, first I'd like to describe my prior diet and my new one, and get some ideas whether its actually much of an improvement, for weight loss specifically

My old diet basically consisted with an entire 2L bottle of coke, and a bag of chips for lunch and several toasted sandwiches in between lunch as well as coke until dinner which was usually fries and a form of processed chicken, or pizza. As well as a multitude of energy drinks.

Currently my diet is usually roasted vegetables for dinner, lunch is two sandwiches with grainy bread containing cheese carrot some Mayo pepper beetroot and shredded chicken I'm drinking nothing but fruit juice, tea and water, my breakfast is cereal of some description usually its nutri grain. My snacks are a couple table spoons of yoghurt at the most or a short bread cookie. I'm not eating as much and what I'm eating is far better for me. *edit* I also snack on apples and bananas too

Combining this with about an hour of cycling each day and I should be losing weight right? Slowly but surely? I intend to cut back on the snacking too, unfortunately I eat when I'm bored.

Thanks for reading guys I really appreciate any responses.

Well it is an improvement of quality of food. Weight loss depends on how many calories you consume and burn during the day. The deficit you create is what makes you lose body fat. What I did to gradually cut my calorie intake, was drinking only water. Juices are full of sugar which means they can have same amount of calories as coke. I would suggest start using a website like myfitnesspal and track your intake. You will be shocked to see how much you been eating and how much you really need. And what helped me with eating when bored is iced lollies. I had ones that are nearly 10kcal per lolly and it helped me when I was pregnant.

What fruit juice are you drinking? I heard the sugar contents were high and to avoid as a regular drink.

Lots of food improvements

Im hearing sugar is the new devil lol..

Sugar is deffo one to watch out for, it creeps up into so much food..

You have made great changes to your diet though!
Would probably say you would need to make a few more changes to your diet if you wanted to lose weight. Like cut out the fruit juices, replace with just water. Aim for atleast 2 litres per day. Also maybe try aiming to have just 2 slices of bread per day as bread can contain high amonts of sugar. Replace with some extra fruit and vegtables !

Its depending on how you feel? Do you feel healthier since making the changes?

All the best

I'm with the others was going to say the same about the juice & maybe just 2slices of bread why not to make it look more have your sandwiches as a open sandwich like myself I love my bread but now I use sandwiches thins & make them into little pizzas with the diet I'm on the bread is a b choice as a healthy extra but you do have to weigh it a very little cheese & whatever veg I fancy xx
Can I ask what diet your doing or are you just cutting down

Warburton thin pizza is lovely.

When I have them I put a bit of tom paste and cheese and some herbs. Then I put either pineapple, ham or toms on them and put under the grill to melt the cheese.

Hi niski,

Some fab changes.

I would cut down to one sandwich, bananas are good post workout, banan pancakes are one of my new favourites. I'd include berries into your fruits and I'm with the others regarding the fruit juice... swap for lots of water or what about some fruit teas, these so called good fruit juices advertised like they are healthy are far from. Maybe also try some low carbs breakfasts sometime ... eggs and tomatoes?

You would be surprised how many people have had their weight loss attempts hampered by that very problem. It was one of the reasons I used to struggle too in the early days.
