Common Sense should prevail!

Every week I buy a particular women's magazine at the grocery store and every week they publish a new diet strategy. Some of the ideas make good sense and others are (to me) just plain nuts.

Here's the way I look at it: a quick fix is not going to work in the long run. I don't know about you, but I need an eating strategy I can live with over the long haul. That's why I finally decided to eat less, move more, and focus on being as healthy as I can be. Because I'm eating less, I strive to eat quality foods: lean proteins, good fat, easy on the carbs, plenty of veggies, little or no processed foods, etc. I am finding this is doable and it seems to be working for me.

It's just a plain old common sense diet! Too bad it took me all these years to figure out that it actually works.

You are very right! those fast diets give you only temporary result. The diet plan you have discribed is the best, it works for all and it brings you lifetime result, as long as you follow this plan the whole your life;-) This diet plan is easy, comfortable and do not harm your healthy no matter how old you are! say no to diets, say yes to healthy life style!!;-)

Life style changes are the way forward or they don't work in the end, I think most dieters learn that in the end though!

It sounds so simple doesn't it? I aim to eat less and move more too. It doesn't always happen though. Sometimes I eat too much junk food at night. I don't follow any fad diets. I wish everyone knew enough to not try those.

Well, I will tell you that you folks are on the right track with your mind set. I had to force myself to go to the gym today after work. It was blazing hot in the Florida sun and I walked my butt down to the gym and made myself do some strength training! You wouldn't believe how much my arms feel like jello.

I used to get Cosmopolitan magazine several years ago. The very last issue that I ever read had a diet tip to munch on dog biscuits when hungry because not only do they take time to eat, they leave your teeth clean.

That was it. I never read the magazine again.

Dog biscuits. Sheesh.

TwylaDee, that is hysterical!!

I can't tell you how much money my very own daughter has spent on fad diets. She just dropped $140 on some program that (to me) sounded pretty sketchy. I tried to gently point out that eating less (of good, wholesome foods, of course) and moving more would do the trick, but I guess she will just have to figure that out by herself.

My toddler loves dog biscuits! Doh! We end up keeping them away from her now as she just gets handfuls of them and eats them. She's mad

I never even bother to read the diet sections of magazines anymore because there is nothing in them but fads and ridiculous suggestions. Losing weight is really more about common sense than anything else.
