Eat slower

Since I began my diet I have started to really pay attention to my food when I eat. I have consciously slowed myself down, chewing slower, trying to savor and taste more of my food.

I would get really annoyed when sitting down to eat with my (ex) boyfriend. He would wolf his food down so fast that I wasn't even half finished and he'd be filling his plate again. He'd eat a sandwich by shoving as much into his mouth as would fit and always reach for more food. It was pure gluttony and it actually appalled me. We even discussed it many times and he just couldn't be bothered with trying to have a little table manners even when we were out somewhere fancy.

The glaring differences in the way we ate a meal together made me even more conscious about eating properly. I slowed down even more and now I get full without eating as much. I got rid of that person from my life so I never feel like meal times are a race to the finish line these days.

That must have been so frustrating that he ate like that, especially when your were trying to eat a nice meal. It can be off putting.

Sometimes I eat a little too fast, although not as bad as your ex by the sounds of it! Sometimes we need to remind ourselves to slow down a little and actually savour the food. Eating slower is much better for you

i've read Paul Mckenna's book 'I can make you thin' and this is exactly what he says that we should eat slower, eat consciously and enjoy every mouthful and doing that we will eat less.I think is a great piece of advice and I try to do it as often as remember because I tend to eat very fast

This is great advice! I have a little one so I tend to scarf things down quickly but I need to work on eating slower during times when I can pay attention to what I'm doing.

I know that we need to eat slowly, very slowly to chew, no TV or reading during the meal (it disctracts you from the process and you eat more than you need!). But it is so difficullt to follow)) can not eat without TV((

I can often eat too fast ... I've no patience with much in life

I have heard if you eat slower it stops you feeling hungry later vs eating fast... No idea how true that would be :/

Your brain's set to tell you you're full after 20 mins or something! So if you eat slower you'll eat less. I've always been a really slow eater anyway, I hate the feeling of my mouth being full so take tiny bites of things!

That is the best way to eat: slowly, with little bites. You are lucky!!! I eat like a person who never saw food in his life(( still can not change this awful way of eating((

I think the best way to eat is the way you feel most comfortable with. I personally do not care if someone finishes eating before me or after to me. I really do not see why this would bother anyone so much?
