Asian Food

I have started to cook more Asian dishes and I am finding that we are actually lowering our calorie intake, especially when we eat these for dinner. I make it all myself, so I know exactly what goes into it and other than sometimes eating more rice that we want, everything is fresh and healthy. We used to "call out for Chinese" when we needed junk food, but now that I am making more of it at home, it seems to be a really good, healthy alternative!

This sounds like a really great healthy alternative to a takeaway. I love Asian food so I should try making some of it at home too, it's so delicious. It's great knowing what's going into your food isn't it

What kind of recipes do you use? I find that the british/americans have a pretty unhealthy range of dishes. I love chinese/cantonese and thai foods, but how does cooking it at home make it healthier than eating at a restaurant?

Oh what kind of recipes do you make? I mad jalfrezi from scratch in the slow cooker recently and love it but thinking I'd quite like to do it off the slow cooker so the peppers etc don't turn to nothing

We use a lot of authentic recipes that we get from our local Asian market. And it seems healthier, not only because we have increased our veggie intake (lots of greens in authentic Asian food), but also because we know exactly what goes into it. We can control the sauces (which can be high sugar) and the salt levels and whether or not we eat rice, regular noodles or rice noodles.
