Accountability

How do you guys feel about having to check in with someone as you lose weight? When I lost the bulk of my weight, I was on a program that I had to go in 3 times a week (similar to WW) and weigh in front of my nutritionist. I was so focused on what she would think and that she would be disappointed in me if I didn't lose, that I actually hit my targets. Do you think accountability is a good motivator?

It can be a great motivator, but I think it depends upon the person. It would work for the person I am today, but the person I was a few years ago would be too embarrassed or worried about disappointing someone that I'd just quit going if I didn't meet my goal.

Accountability can be a great thing. I track my progress with an app and weigh in at the end of each day. I don't have to answer to anyone but myself, but keeping myself on track like that certainly helps.

It did me the world of good when I started on Slimming world, I'm socially phobic so I'm surprised I went but it kept me going before I decided to go if alone... I struggled with the late meetings when really I wanted to be getting ready for bed.

Sharing my journey online with friends even strangers equally keeps me going

I think it makes all the difference. I know for a fact I am more motivated when I get weighed at group then when I have tried to motivate myself at home.
It's easy to ignore your weigh in at home if you don't like it - Poppy you are obviously better at motivating yourself than me!
I guess it just depends on each person - I need the threat of failing in public I think!
