Ketogenic low-carb, high-protein diets can help depression?

Just been having a flick through the newspapers today and came across this:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/ar...al-health.html

Anyone here been on a the Atkins or Caveman diet? Felt any better? TBH I've learnt not to believe everything you read in the paper, but hey if having steak and chops (etc) are gonna give me a cheerier out look on life then I'm up for giving it a go

It's the Daily Mail. Enough said

But seriously, I can imagine it's probably true. When I have a mixed grill / high protein foods I feel great When I eat chips, fries, bread, cakes or cookies I feel like crap the next day

It's the fat in food that's good for your nervous system isn't it? I know that I read a long time ago, when I was eating really low fat, that it's dangerous to leave fat out of your diet. My mum did Atkins and lost a lot of weight, so I might just give it a try. She said she never felt hungry at all and that's what I need!
