Do you keep a diet journal?

I started one at the beginning of the new year but I have seriously slacked off with keeping it updated. I renewed my promise to myself to keep going with it.

I write down different things I come across like motivational quotes, things I am feeling at the moment, reasons to stay on track. This is different from my log where I keep track of my weigh-ins and measurements.

On the cover I taped a small poster that I found and it says, "I may not be there yet, but I am closer than I was yesterday."

What a great idea! Inspirational quotes that is. I don't keep a diet journal. I might start one though. What else do you write in yours? Do you include a food journal? I tried this once but kept forgetting to write everything down.

Hi aboutme!

I guess it is more like a diet diary than anything else. I just write down how I feel when I've had a particularly bad day and messed up by cheating. I also brag to myself when I have a great day and cheer for every hard won pound that comes off. I make lists of how I will feel when I lose weight, which clothes I will buy first, and different rewards I will treat myself to.

I love collecting different motivational quotes and little cartoons too. Maybe this diet/journal is trying to turn into a scrapbook.

I also like to write down different motivational quotes, but don`t write how I was feeling during the day or counting the calories. Sometimes even put one the quotes on the fridge written in big letters not to forget

Both diary/journal and log are great tools. Your diary builds on your motivation, your log builds on technical aspects of your weight loss journey. You need them both now and for future reference. Keep up the good work with both.

Thank you, Kyba.

Yes, what I was referring to is a more private type of diary with things that you'd not really want in public. This may sound corny, but I write down some of my private thoughts about how I feel being overweight and the frustrations I feel sometimes.
