Thirsty, not hungry

I read somewhere that sometimes the body gets confused and people think they are hungry when in fact they are really just thirsty and in need of hydration.

What I do, is when I start to feel hungry, I will drink a glass of water. If I still feel hungry a few minutes later, I know it's not just thirst. Plus, drinking a full glass of water before I eat helps me to eat less.

I heard that too It's one of those things that I have the best intentions to do but fail big time.

Should try that drinking before a meal. Not thought of that before

I've heard this and must admit when I was on top of my water intake I did struggle less between meals!

I've started doing this, too. I drink a 16 ounce bottle of water and then wait about half an hour before I have anything to eat. At least a couple of times throughout the day, I'll drink that bottle of water and then forget about eating because I wasn't really hungry to begin with.

I like to drink cold water and keep a container in the refrigerator all the time. I need to get into the habit of drinking a full glass before meals too.

There's been a few times when I was cooking a meal and felt hungry so I got something to drink to tide me over as the meal finished cooking. I forgot about being hungry. That could be one of those thirsty and not hungry situations.

I do this too! I'm trying to explain it to my kids too cos I think half the time they want food cos they're thirsty! My 5 year old gets a bit confused and keeps telling me she's starving for a drink

I need to start doing this. I have coffee every now and then at work but should start doing what they recommend in schools. Don't they let kids have a water bottle on their desks nowaday. Not so much for diet purposes but being even a little bit dehydrated makes your head go fuzzy Knowing how fuzzy my head gets at the best of times I'll probably forget the water bottle

I've heard this before too. I do need to make an effort to drink more water!

I've heard about this, too. I know it's something I need to work on, but I just get tired of water all the time! Does anyone else feel like that? Does it still "count" if you add stuff to make the water flavored?

I struggle with this one, too. If I have a glass of water, I have to have something else to go with it--a cup of tea, coffee, whatever. I alternate between the two to keep up with my water intake so I don't get dehydrated, but sticking to plain water is so hard.
